Registered 16 years agoIt's like the the last couple of Alien films - a series of things just happening, with nobody reacting to anything and everyone acting like an idiot and/or a five year old. Not worth it for the five seconds of monster. -
This made the past two Alien films look like sci fi classics.
I haven't seen a film this nonsensical in ages. The (blatantly forced) sequences that tie this into the other films even retcon what came before. But wait, no they don't because SCI FI!
My life. So bad, top to bottom.

Suicide Squad has competition for the worst film I've seen this decade. -

Registered 19 years agoWhat I think happened is they shot a shit movie about an energy crisis that created some sort of rift in space or some other shit and it cost too much to bin so they shot a few extra scenes to tie it to cloverfield, chopped them in and called it a day.
A complete fucking abortion.

Registered 19 years agoThe hacky tinfoil hat YouTube video being the only exposition to explain anything was the icing on the cake.
I'm angry I spent time watching that shit cunt. -

Registered 5 years ago"IT COULD BRING UP GIANT MONSTERS FROM THE SEA" was a weirdly specific line. -
Bit weird that after making that statement about monsters and demons being unleashed... None appeared on the station itself. -
This was mad fun, really didn't give a fuck what it did and I love it

What did you say, arm?
-
I'm curious to see what God Particle might have been pre-Cloverfield molestation. Seems like any exposition that didn't fit that universe got cut, and the husband scenes and ending inserted in their place. Surely they wouldn't be so brazen/foolish as to just expect us to accept a sentient arm without at least a hint of explanation? -

Registered 18 years agoAm I the only one who really loved it? I liked parts of the sequel and quite enjoyed the original but this one was actually my favorite

wouldn't say it was my favourite, think lane takes that spot, but just watched it and, tbh, seen a lot worse...clearly added the cloverfield aspect to try and lift it from average-scifi-pap though... -

Registered 14 years agoCloverfield is one of my favourite films. 10 cloverfield lane was also a great film. This is terrible on every level. -

Registered 16 years agoHow is the monster over 3,000ft tall? I don't remember it being that big in the first film. -

This isn't set in the same time and that's not the same monster... It might not even be the same Earth.

It wasn't. The original was set in 2008, this was set in 2028, so them making it seem like it was concurrent was ridiculous. The only vague "origin" they have is "I guess weird dimension stuff happened".
Wait - The original Cloverfield never appeared to be happening during a worldwide energy crisis. -

Wait - The original Cloverfield never appeared to be happening during a worldwide energy crisis.
So this film was a completely different film before Cloverfield was tacked on? I can totally believe that if true -

Yep. Screenplay was written up, then bought up by Bad Robot and had Cloverfield stuff tacked on during production. Though allegedly even after it had been shot and basically finished they brought it back in to tack even more Cloverfield stuff on top (presumably the nonsensical stuff with the husband back on Earth).

Registered 16 years agoI thought it was happening at the same time… o_o I think I was in such a stupor that it didn't really register that beasty was so tall at the end. -
