Rumour: It will be out in Europe this year, and next year in US. Apparently they'll get SSBM this year, and we will next year. Details on the game are expected at E3. Yay for Europe not getting everything after the US, booh for Europe not getting everything before the US. ![]() Edited by MadMirko at 09:07:20 09-07-2007 |

Registered 20 years agoPlease Nintendo, don't wheel out that hoary old CG reel of Mario Kart that you've reeled out for the last 3 versions. Cheers.
And don't go down the gay kart route either.

It'll be great though won't it, hold the remote like a wheel and wobble around the track precariously, then use gestures to attack, like draw a shell with the remote at the same time as driving, then sticking the nunchuck in your pocket and jumping to make the kart jump, awesome
The sad thing is, you're probably 100% spot-on with that. -

Registered 20 years agoNah. I can see it being more like Excite Truck tbh... They know that Mario Kart has traditionally sold to their hardcore market. Double Dash being the prime example. -

Mmm too true...
Three things will sell this title to me.
1) Good and I mean GOOD original track designs. We don't need to see all the old tracks rehashed and revived. Maybe Choco Stadium and Bowser's Castle but none of the others, ta...
2) Absolutely no snaking whatsoever possible. Otherwise this will be a waste of time online
3) Online that's stable and works and a lobby system that wasn't designed by a retarded day releaser.

That alone put me right off playing Mario Kart on the DS for life.

Agreed. The recent Mario Karts have gone all out with the Special Cup track designs, but been frightfully boring with most of the others. Inventive courses all the way through, please. -

Registered 14 years agoTrue, I never got the hype for Smash bros, to me it was a shallow fighter that was pretty crap. I hope Mario kart on Wii is nothing like Double dash, that was also shit for a Mario kart game.
Go back to the roots of the series and build on it, Mario kart on SNES is in my top three games of all time. -

Registered 20 years agoOh blimey yes.
In fact, if they could sling in a modicum of clever new track design, multiple branching routes on each, give it the playability of the SNES version, with the smoothness of the Cube version, ignoring the N64 and DS versions completely, I'd be very very happy indeed.

Registered 16 years agoNo it won't. Mario Kart Double Dash was the fucked up version. You can tell because Mario Kart DS was actually fun again and dropped everything DD introduced. Although the tracks were not back to Mario Kart 64 niveau at least the gameplay was fast again. -

Registered 16 years agoI really don't think that they will use the Wiimote too much. But even if they did I trust Nintendo will at least make good use of it. I still think it will be nunchuck to steer and using the Wiimote for green shell aiming. Maybe some other items for the Wiimote but I don't think that they will use the Wiimote too much. Then again Excite Truck did and the controls were perfect and it's definetly the faster, more frantic game of the two. -

Registered 17 years agoOn the other hand, if you consider Zelda PH, non-traditional controls can introduce new ways to have fun into the most classic of franchises.
Knowing they'll go for classic controls or Wii style won't tell you whether that's good or not. -

Registered 16 years agoThat's what I think. Especially thinking about the powerslides; I think they would be hard to pull off with Wiimote steering or at least a bit tedious for an entire race.
My biggest fear though is that they implement some kind of new gameplay mechanic just to make use of the Wiimote. As much as I enjoy Nintendo games their latest efforts in enhancing perfectly fine titles were all quite disappointing (read: every cube sequel to a N64 game). But they seem to go back to the roots with the DS titles (come to think of it: Where the hell is F-Zero for the DS?) so I think it will be fine. -
I predict it'll have "waggle the wiimote for turbo". And "shake the wiimote to use item".
Seriously. With Mario Kart they should just leave the fucking wiimote alone. -

I don't say that.
Proof will be in the puddin' as they say
2nd the waggle prediction though. :/
