"The monument will stand atop a half meter tall metal-plated concrete platform that will have the names of all the “main characters” of all active EVE Online players etched upon it. This list of active, paying players will be captured on March 1st, 2014—no exceptions"

Registered 14 years agoIs anyone interesting in giving EVE a go but intimidated by the crushing loneliness?
I'm thinking about gathering fellow newbies here and on the reddit/r/eve page and seeing if we can get some casual play time, whether it's people on lapsed accounts or trial accounts. -

Registered 14 years agoSounds good. I just lost my first ship to PVP. It only stings because I'll have to jump around for a while to buy the stuff to replace the fitting. -

Registered 16 years ago@Rusty_M What times are you online? Are you in the Eurogamer.net chat channel?
I'm happy to give you some ISK/ships to get you off the ground. That goes for any new players actually.
I can maybe even show you how pvp shouldn't be done....(becasue I'm terrible)

Registered 14 years ago@bicky316 Recently I've been on around 8 until 12. It's been a fairly solitary experience so far.
I'll add the chat channel. I'm Rusty Dolum.
I've been living in hisec but going to low in an under-equipped Imicus for data and relic sites. Got blown up last night with over 20m in loot because I was tired and focussing too much on the hacking minigame. Good fun though.
I think given the above, I know how not to PVP -

Registered 17 years agofor all of you who are looking at this fresh - this is a good article to outline the appeal, dispel some myths and give you an idea of the commitment and potential result

As a personal addendum:- i stopped playing EVE properly in about 2007 after playing for 3-4 years. The same as virtually everyone i started in a small corporation as a director with a real life friend this corp existed to mine, pve as an anti-piracy initiative and have fun.
A year later we were an alliance and had regular meetings at a pub seieng as it turned out we were mostly local and even had an alliance meet with people flying over from europe. Eventually in-game we held territory and lived out the end game of capital ship warfare over territory and resources.
My story in EVE ended soon after with a descent in to piracy, but the story of the alliance we created (VOLT) lives on ...
The friend i started EVE with all thse years ago recently discovered that the newest person in their team played EVE and as pure co-incidence had recently joined the VOLT alliance in the corp we had set up. The alliance has grown and the orginal corps still exist within it
this is what's unique about EVE, you can play for only a little time but your actions leave some lasting imapct behind.

My main is like -8 sec status so have to have an alt with freighter to move shit around and it just becomes such a bore spending an hour on the market in Jita buying 10 ships and fittings and then waiting hours for your freighter to autopilot to your drop off point. -

Also happy to give you a few ships and ISK to get you going if I see you in the Eurogamer.net channel. I'm mostly on during the day as Torakay or one of my many alts but occasionally on in an evening. -

Registered 16 years agoNew Eden Open(NEO) II started this weekend, some interesting fights from what I saw.
You can watch the matches on Eve Online's youtube channel, day one matches are up and day two's will hopefully be up soon. The rest of the tournament is on over the next two weekends. -
The best time for me in Eve was our outrageously nasty "PLEX" in a wreck trap. So stunningly awesome and massively successful.

That's really quite an accolade looking back at it, especially from an Eve player!

Good times. It is a bit telling that the most funnest the game has been was during times of utter bastardness.
