That's what they should call the game, too.

Everyones waxing lyrical about the possibilities for this board device, but haven't we learnt that devs tend to aim for the lowest possible denominator?

You aren't gonna see many 'bond games' as ecosse joyfully pointed out as they won't sell enough.

Peripherals generally = fail for more than a few games. It'll only be nintendo themselves that take full advantage of this, and we know how mainstream they've become...fitness games here we come.

Well, guitar hero seems to be doing alright.
The trick seems to be to release it with a kick-ass game attached.

But even this "fitness game" looked fun.

And if it's just Nintendo, so be it, maybe it'll live up to my expectations, maybe not.

And it's not so out there that a 3rd party can't do a gave for a optional peripheral if that peripheral is hot enough.

Yea, guitar hero is doing well, but so did time crisis.

What I'm saying is its rare to have a load of devs suddenly capitalise on the new peripheral and release their own games.

I'm guessing the snowboarding peripheral I linked got maybe one or two games, there were so many possibilities, skating, surfing, fitness (as demonstrated by wii) yet it got very little.

I don't know what to think. I am certainly the person who would really need such a game (not to stay in shape but to get in a less spherical shape again) and I think it could actually be fun as well. I haven't seen any videos yet, just read the transcript of the conference, but who knows. Wii Sports, Brain Age and the likes all took me by surprise and are actually really good titles. Not too sure about Yoga and Aerobics though.

This might be popular on a larger scale than a specific snowboard peripheral.

    Disclaimer: Perhaps.

The snowboarding peripheral is not 1st party nor did it have the massive force of Nintendo behind it. Many 3rd parties won't want to be caught on the hop so maybe it'll get some early support...

The nice thing is that the Wiimote has almost everything you need for such devices. Take a snowboard and attach the Wiimote in the center - you're done. Good thing is that for the developers it doesn't really matter because it's still the Wiimote - they don't need to support an extra peripheral, it's just that the players use it differently so support should be easy.

Exactly! Don't have a balance board? Stand on your Wiimote.

I think this could be a master stroke from Nintendo. I can just see blokes all over the world persuading their girlfriends and wifes to buy a Wii for the house because, 'You can do Yoga and stuff without going to a gym full of super fit people, and , I can get fit too!!'...while they sit on their fat ass playing Metroid and Mario for the following 12 months.

Or games to come out specifically for it. Combining the balance board with the regular controls. Could be cool.

    You meen like a snowboarding/surfing/skating game ;)

Christ that's a great idea. Now the idea of that pad applied to a skateboarding game really does appeal...

It's going to be bigger than Wii Sports and Brain Age put together.

Needs a fat monitor, but it's a solid idea that'll sell like crazy.

Doubt it since only gays want the wii so they wouldn't have a lady friend.

Gays love yoga, though. And not wearing shoes.

Ahh yes, so perhaps they'd have a female house mate or too.

    Tsk York you sly one.

To me Wii Fit is a fucking expensive pair of bathroom scales; I'm waiting for someone like Salter to sue Nintendo. How many fitness gadgets are laying around peoples homes never getting used? I bought a Bull-Worker years ago but could get the box open and it has just lay there in a cupboard ever since.

    Even more controllers? :-D

There are going to be as many controllers as games soon. No wonder the Wii's so small - you need all the extra space to store the egg whisk controller, the toilet brush controller and the butt plug attachment. :-)

Butt plug attachment? I'm surprised that you weren't an early Wii adopter with anal peripherals on the go. :)
