I had some work setbacks so for the past 10 days I did not put much effort into my workout and binge ate unhealthily. 3 kg heavier for it, so shameful, now I am about 5 weeks behind my plan.

Time to fix it / off to do some morning gymming.

Astounding how long it takes to lose and how quickly it can come back....

    @Load_2.0

Could probably push them up to 70 without too much bother tbh. DId 3x10 @ 65 yesterday which is borderline pointless.

But i'm lazy, and also wary of my rotator cuff which just recently healed properly

It's the best for soaking up the sweat that drips off his hard, vascular body.

ed: wow, that makes no sense. Apparently I wasn't shown any posts since PES' carpet queries until I pressed submit.

Actually it gets a bit sweltering in there, but on the colder days it's pretty nice, although the other day I thought my eyes were getting cataracts as things looked smoky, but it was heat coming off my sweaty head.

There is loads of room for other stuff, that's about a third of the total space in the rape basement. I do most of my exercise stuff outside with just a pull up bar and resistance bands, we don't have too bad a climate really.

I wish I could bench the house, that way I could raise the rape basement ceiling so I could do Olympic lifts

I've been meaning to get some 2nd hand weights and a bench with squat rack, which I'd just leave in the garden down the end where our garage used to be.

it gets a bit warm in the summer, but actually windows or not, it still remains the coolest room in the house.

0lbs lost this week. That may sound poor, but actually i think i'll take it as a win.

    Wednesday - Beers + Lahore
Friday - Missed gym due to youngest being sick and crying evening.
Saturday - Lunch at a mates place and dinner at my parents (both way more than i would eat on my plan)
Sunday - Dad's birthday, party with curries, naan breads, starters etc and chocolate cake and ice cream
Monday - Sausage and mash lunch + 3/4 pints
Tuesday - Breakfast at the Ivy.

Given that, i think i've done well to stay at net 0. Basically from not eating chocolates or treats i guess.

Went to a boxing based (non contact) cardio workout last night, normally I run but have been looking for something to let me ease off the running a bit (crap knees) was bloody hard work and good fun and the hour whizzed by, might keep it going.

Tom Platz is doing squad clinics at the gym for the next 2 days. Might try to pop down tomorrow and teach him a few things.

Another 2lbs lost! Bit odd as I fluctuated by a whole pound between yesterday and today but whatever, today is official weigh in day.

Another 2lbs to hit my target of 11st. Hopefully this week or next.

Looking forward to getting my calories back. Will keep some aspects of my diet like not eating cakes and biscuits all the time but also looking forward to swapping out salads for lunch for some more substantial food.

Had blueberries strawberries and custard as a treat last night. Man it was good.

I've finally cleared my garage a year after I bought my place so I'm ready to turn it into a gym.....but I don't really know where to start.

I want to start small incase we don't use it so I haven't wasted a load of money. I'm thinking a treadmill, spin bike, some matts and some free-weights. I'm thinking second hand for everything to save money.

Is gumtree/Shpock the best place to buy this stuff (as it's so heavy I'm guessing eBay is tricky as they won't deliver)? Are there any ex-gym warehouse type places near London where gyms bin their older equipment which would be good? Is second hand stupid because they just break straight away?

Any recommendations on matts, free-weights, treadmill (preferably 18km ones as I like to sprint) and spin bikes? Just not sure where to start and want to short cut some of the research!

    Thanks for the help

Ebay works, but you need to set the distance to wherever you'd be willing to drive to. I've bought quite a lot that way, but it's taken literally years to build it up.

...and second hand is fine. As long as they're not obviously fucked up, weighs tend to be weights.

@IJ I recently did the same with our garage, I recommend getting something like this as well:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sports-Standing-Sparring-Fitness-Training/dp/B07BJ92BGH/ref=sr_1_36?ie=UTF8&qid=1541068871&sr=8-36&keywords=standing+punch+bag

It's got more use than anything else out there... nothing beats strapping the gloves on and pounding this for 30 mins! I take a tablet out there and follow a youtube 30 minute boxing heavy bag session. Just make sure you fill the base with sand and not water, or you'll be repositioning it every 2 minutes!

I'm having to seriously consider the home gym route and probably need to make a call on it in the next month or so before my work benefits renew and I have to decide whether to resub to Virgin gyms for the next year.

My work can be really unpredictable so going to the gym during the day is really hit and miss. I could perhaps be more regimented about it but it's hard to develop it into a habit, especially when I work from home on certain days etc. They don't have a branch locally either so I can't go in the morning before work or on the weekend for that matter. Going after work would mean getting home even later and missing time with the wife/kids potentially.

The benefit of a home gym would be that it's cheaper, I wouldn't have to share equipment and I could go whenever I wanted (even when I worked from home), except during work hours of course. I'd lose the ability to swim at the pool which is a really nice option when I want to do a lighter cardio session though and I fear I'd buy all this gear not to use it just as I don't use my gym sub. Can I really see myself gyming in the freezing cold garage?

All I know is I'm putting on more and more weight and I really need to do something!
