I have a short term weight goal that I want to hit as fast as possible (currently aiming for around March) but I want to ensure that my training isn't sacrificed while doing it.

Still eating about 2500 cals a day and lifting is feeling good so it should be fine. I'm hoping to get there without actually playing with my calories too much but I may have to drop them a bit after Xmas, and if so I'll probably do that in 250 calorie drops. That should get me there on plan, but if it takes longer it takes a bit longer.

Swimming is all about efficiency. Technique is everything.

I canít really do it anymore as every time I swim a few lengths I throw my shoulder out again. Its a cunt. I used to enjoy it so much. The feeling after a good long swim is so chilled, so nice.

Some people get bloating, so I guess that's a reasonable extension.

If you really want a supplement that'll fuck up your guts, try bicarb. :o

If supplements really worked the way they get hawked then they would be illegal in competition and bodybuilders wouldn't have their own shit, they'd take the best

Supplements exist only as a way to handwave away the massive steroid gains for people who still think they can pass for natty

There's a difference between competitive bodybuilders and the average gym goer - what works for the latter will be useless for the former.

But saying that, I wouldn't use more than some form of protein powder for convenience and creatine.
Outside of that it's just making sure your training is smart and recovery (food and rest) is good.

Dead on 5kg lost this morning, and my thanksgiving feast got cancelled tomorrow due to a kid with a fever so I'll actually be able to keep it off this weekend!

I thought a lot of competitive lifters used shakes and that because of the sheer number of calories they need to consume, like it's hard to actually eat that much lean protein?

Day 1 of 12kg kettlebell hell. I've lost maybe a stone over the past couple of months just by sticking with my patented caffeine, cigarettes and fruit diet, so now I'm hoping to put some muscle on.

Routine is 5x sets of 10 double arm swings, 10 squats, 5 single arm swings with both arms and 5 suitcase lifts with both arms. 30 secs rest between each set. Then 20 crunches with the bell, 20 without and 20 Russian twists.

I can only assume it's gonna work because I'm fucking destroyed this morning.

I think I'm going to leave off the ab work for a few weeks. Rib still isn't properly healed and based on the pain of hanging leg raises yesterday, I'm just making things worse.

    Bleh.

    This is bollocks.

Generally most people just need to eat a bit less of everything, and less crap and a bit less meat.

Fad diets are an excuse to fail.

    @Not-a-reviewer

This is just nonsense and dismissing what I've said as bollocks isn't something you can support. People need to eat properly not just 'a bit less', that's a vacuous statement. What do you consider crap? Do you understand how nutrition works and how fat on the body is formed?

Suggesting people need ot eat less meat seems based on the idea that meat is somehow bad for you, this couldn't be further from the truth. FUrthermore it's propagated by people with a poor understanding of nutrition. Meat is the most nutrient dense bioavailable food you can eat, quality notwithstanding. THe idea we can do without or that eating less will help the environment (which is a good thing) is also not supported by facts either.

You ought to read up on these issues if you want to participate in a discussion about it. Exercise alone will never cause weight loss. A proper healthy diet will and thousands of people have cut weight and maintained it by eating alone.

Because it's only advantageous in the short term (basically whilst your body is losing water, not fat). Plus it's shit for anyone that's doing any sort of high intensity exercise as fat just flat out can't provide the energy you need at those heart rates.

If it works for you, great. Statistically it's less likely to be adhered to (which isn't surprising, as carbs are fucking delicious)... but if you can do it, that's great.

Edit - Not a fad though. Just overhyped, a LOT.

I'm on a permanent 1500 calorie a day diet. It's a fucking killer, especially with multiple cardio sessions a week and the fact I have bad fatigue at the moment as well due to lack of sleep and general type 2 woes.

eat what you like, just be informed about what you're eating and how it affects you.

Though most roast dinners are pretty high carb if they include thigns like spuds and batter.
