There are some decent whey powders. There's a Swedish company called Star nutrition that I use that does decent mint chocolate and iced coffee flavours.

Any actual foods are pretty rough though. Except Barebells.

My attempts at protein porridge were all gross. I just had porridge and a whey shake instead.

    What's wrong with regular porridge
I didn't want to double up on the milk (and additional calories) having both porridge and a shake (which generally taste like arse with just water). I'll just take that hit next time. Protein porridge is a no-go.

I noticed that oat so simple without semi skimmed milk is only 0.3g of sugar, adding the milk makes that 8.4g.

Does milk contain that much sugar?!

Yes! Fuck me. No wonder I'm a fatty!

You should take a look at juice! Years ago, before I was married and had a c.15% body fat percentage, I was annoyed that I wasn't able to cut more. I thought I was eating pretty healthily and couldn't figure out what was happening. Then one day I thought to look at the juice I drank a fair amount of - mental amounts of sugar. I naively thought that juice was fruit and healthy etc but it's generally loaded with sugar (whether natural or otherwise).

Yep, fruit juice is actually one of the worst offenders. I also had the problem with trying to cut weight but assumed I was eating healthy. Then one day, some genius told me: 'Instead of drinking juice, eat the fruit instead. Less sugar and more fibre'.

Yeah stopped drinking juice as much a few years ago when I got married but then started to drink more more milk through Indian tea...which means I've had fuck all reduction.

I tend to juice my fruit, then dehydrate the juice to a powder, then mix with water.

Protein? I genuinely didn't think it was sugar.

How many cups are you drinking ffs?! A dash in tea a handful of times a day isn't going to make that much of a difference.

I need to make the switch to almond milk really.

This, although we make ours with half water and half milk. Still sugar rich given the fact that we add sugar to it as well!

And Sri Lankan iced coffee includes condensed milk and brandy, whilst we're comparing sub-continental beverages. Tastes amazing but don't expect to avoid taking a calorific hit if you drink it.

I tried oat milk the other day as my wife had bought some. Initial sweetness but then tasted like walnut skins. Pretty vile stuff.

Ah. Then I'd have said the added sugar is more the problem than any lactose!
