Still got a floating rib injury from a cunt in London who went full bore in sparring three odd years ago. Wish I'd given him a proper receipt for that one, he never actually competed though.

Think that should be a thing, if you're not prepared / preparing to fight (at a fighting gym) you don't get to spar. Any dickhead can look hard at 100% when their opponent is going 70

Anyone have a Garmin fitness tracker/smart watch? I'm looking at the Vivoactive 3 because it's waterproof and I want to use the watch while swimming.

5 will be dropping in price though. Might miss out on knowing your blood oxygen, but should still be good.

Yet to find a swim tracker that I'm convinced by. Dedicated swimovate seem to be the best but they all seem to be a bit hit and miss (not read much about the garmins because they were out of my price range)

My Garmin fenix did a really good job of tracking laps for front crawl if you did clear laps and no breaks, and pushed off well each lap. So no hanging about or losing form.

I have a Forerunner235. Love it, it's not waterproof though- a person at work was using theirs for triathlon training and has knackered the HR monitor using it for swimming. Everrything else still works, but I guess a dedicated tri-watch would be better if you want to swim!

I use my vivoactive 3 for this very purpose. Works fine and counts better than I do :)

Man, if someone had told me a year ago that I'd feel like death after walking on a treadmill for half hour... let alone with assistance... I'd have laughed in their face.

    Life changes pretty fast. =/

I just joined a gym (and have started calorie counting and keeping it below 1880 because my BMI has slipped up to obese) and the second induction session was a trainer getting me to do these weird things like bouncing a weight off a trampoline and wiggling ropes and pushing a sled type thing.

Anyway each thing was only 30 seconds and she made me do all four one after the other, but it damn near killed me. I genuinely felt like I was going to be sick. She looked very unimpressed when I said I'd probably leave it there for that session. Bit disheartening.

    "Weird things" :D

Regarding the calories, don't go too low a deficit. You should be eating as much as you can afford to while still being in a slight deficit.

First day back on the wagon after holiday and I had two krispy kremes that I bought myself for the team.

    Result.

Nah I had porridge and fruit for brekkie, a vegetarian lunch and chicken and spinach curry with brown rice for dinner so all good. Right...

Anyone else read about the kid that went blind and deaf from a poor diet of chips, crisps, sausage, processed ham and white bread?

    Also, front squats are hard.
    Much harder than back squats.

Cool. I wonder how it handles kick boxing.

Wristband of my Garmin Forerunner 410 broke so decided it's time for a replacement as I had it for quite a while.

So I'm in the market for a reasonably cheap running watch, don't need silly features like social media integration or irrelevant stats being tracked. Also don't want general fitness trackers, focus is on running only.

    Any recommendations?

Forerunner 35 does everything I need, which is time, distance and pace. Uploads to strava fine, where I can pretend I care about the HRM for a few moments a year. Takes a bit of time to find a satellite link sometimes but I guess that depends on your location. I have fuck all desire for a higher spec running watch

I am so off the wagon it's not even funny. I had a cold a couple of months ago and my routine went completely out of the window. I haven't been to the gym for weeks, eaten a fair amount of crap (although plenty of healthy stuff too), overeating a bit, weeknight beers etc.

I don't look like I've put that much weight on, but I need to rein it in sharpish. I've had another cold since, so as soon as I've kicked that I'm back on it. Need to make a serious go of the intermittent fasting too. Am I allowed coffee if I'm fasting intermittently?

Still, I had to run for the bus the other day, and I found that I caught my breath far, far quicker than I would've a few years ago.
