Defo. I know a lot of my aches and pains are because I haven't really looked after myself in the last 10 years or so.

Iíve been doing a 30 day menís yoga thing to help with all my aches but I started in May and Iím only up to day 24 now since lockdown home working and parenting means I have no suitable free time.

I have got out for a couple of pushchair runs but itís turning theyíre not very practical when Baby Maybe needs his playtime so much

That's when my problems started too. Having kids gave me a great excuse. I have flitted in and out of various spells of good health and exercise but there's always an excuse and I am very good at letting things slide. I am approaching 50 with a knackered knee, shoulder and a 3st beer belly. Time to do something about it imo.

    Nice going.

Iím just over 10kgs down this morning. Another 2 and Iíll be at my lowest weight in 2 years again, though the goal this time is to keep going rather than getting slack about it.
    ^ 3.5 weeks ago

15.5kg down as of this morning, 13 weeks since I started kettlebelling (and being better with my diet, obvs).
Still getting tasty stuff in a couple of times a week (ice-cream, pizza, booze, etc).

Iím liking being back in the gym. Itís surprising how quickly Iíve toned the old muscles back up. Iím still weak but the progress has been swift. Also Iím back doing treadmill interval sprints, I had the bastard up to 20kph the other day (only for 30 seconds, it felt quite dangerous)

The gyms are not open up here yet, have to wait for the 31st at best.

Been pretty good though. Had two days this week where I ran 5k, then rowed 5k, and two bike rides of 35-40k plus.

I have *finally* managed to get extra weight plates for my dumbbells just as gyms re-open, which is a bit annoying.

I am wondering about jacking in the gym sub, since now I have been forced into nearly 6months without it, i have other gubbins in the house.

I'll probably see how well it's run and how they maintain numbers before deciding. I would miss access to heavier weights/machines, but can certainly make do at home.

The routine of going out to it does help though.

Currently down to 12st 6lbs from 14st about 8 weeks ago, so going well.

My biggest problem was always having a sweet tooth (chocolate, haribos, pop, etc). Iíve recently discovered the joys of two things which have changed my life though : Coke Zero and Frozen Bananas.

Coke Zero, not Diet Coke which is just sugary water, is great. Tastes like Coke, zero calories....win win!

Grab a few bananas, peel em, slice em, put them in a ziplock bag, stick them in the freezer......basically tastes like the best Banana ice cream youíve ever had.

Oh, and do exercise and stuff too.....

I prefer Pepsi Max to Coke Zero. Itís sweeter so covers my need for dessert or something sweet in the evening.
    Otherwise I donít drink sodas.

Anyone know of a decent exercise bike for the garage? Nothing fancy like a wattbike or pentalon , or whatever they're called. A decent £200 Argos job will suffice, I trust opinions on here more than dodgy reviews on-line.

If you've already got a bike get a turbo trainer

I have a £50 town bike for going to the train station and the shops, which is fun, but only has 3 gears, will that do the job?

And 1.5st in 8 weeks as well?! Some crazy numbers.

Theresa May saw me in the gym this morning smashing out some interval training on the treadmill. Pretty sure she was impressed.

The treadmills have a phone app which is quiet cool. You can pre-program different workouts on the app then the treadmill just does everything automatically. It's handy when you're in full sprint mode not to have to manually change the speed.

Here's what I did. She clocked me on the final sprint going absolutely hell for leather

    10 kph - 2 mins
    12.5 kph - 2 mins
    15 kph - 1 min
    5 kph - 1 min
    16 kph - 1min
    5 kph - 1 min
    16 kph - 1min
    5 kph - 1 min
    16 kph - 1min
    5 kph - 2 mins
    17 kph - 45 secs
    5 kph - 45 secs
    17.2 kph - 45 secs
    5 kph - 45 secs
    17.4 kph - 45 secs
    5 kph - 45 secs
    17.6 kph - 45 secs
    5 kph - 45 secs
    17.8 kph - 45 secs
    5 kph - 45 secs
    18 kph - 45 secs
    5 kph - 45 secs

Ideally I'd like to work towards running a 5 minute mile but it seems a way off right now.

    Got to try this.

Best to get them almost overripe first?

    @Tomo
Mostly eating "clean", with a "cheat" meal (pizza, burgers, maybe a dessert and some booze occasionally) a week. Because I'm working from home and staying away from Covid I can make every meal, every day.
Trying to keep everything available but in moderation, basically, and adapting my overall consumption to my activity each week. Just going by intuition, really.

Kettlebelling 3x a week atm, though my new bells are being delivered on Monday so I'll be increasing to 4x again.

Doesnít make a difference really, I think the batch I just froze was almost spot on ripe.

Serious game changer though....satisfies the urge to eat something sweet whilst being low calorie and high in energy/potassium.

One of the best food cheats Iíve ever experienced, legitimately.
