Why the fuck would you not have done it that way in the first place?

If you're losing weight, you need to eat the same amount as before, and not cutting down on too much food. The difference is that you need to eat more healthy things and less food with high fat content.
If it's true that your percentage body fat has increased, that might be your body storing all the fat it's missing now that you've suddenly stopped eating it. -
I'm taking the next step up from the gym and going to a British Military Fitness class tomorrow night. Eek! Anyone got any pro-tips to share? -

Registered 7 years agoIt be easy dont worry. Be plenty of circuits, interval training etc. be more of a full body. Workout. Maybe sprint, squats, sprint, push ups, sprint, burpes, etc
I'm from ex military back ground so the organised training was always based around circuit training, running, tabbing(Walking with 25kg and above of kit on your back),assault course for full body workout etc
High rep workout.
Then again the trainer may have his own ideas
Will it be held in a gym or in a park like some of them do?
Can send you some workout programmes that have worked well over the years

Speaking of which, by my calculation sport is due to be finishing his next 90 day round any day now, so we're due a fresh batch. -

Registered 8 years ago@craigy good luck at BMF - it's been a while since I went, but I don't think there's any Pro tips needed.
Everything is scaled well enough, but you might need to pace yourself a little as you're often doing sprints, but no-one really really sprints so if you do you might have a hard time keeping up later in the session, but it's no big deal.
I would say do the fitness assessment in your first month as it's really interesting to track your progress (especially with all the online graphs etc).
Also - there's an old thread on it too.
Finally - 'tis the perfect time of year to start as it's cool enough to be more fun, there tends to be fewer people after summer so you get more attention and it's dark so if you're a bit nervous / embarrassed you don't need to worry about being gawped at by random members of the public.
And hopefully you'll get to enjoy a snow filled session at the end of the year - rolling monster snowballs uphill in Preston Park to make snowmen in a team race was the most fun session I remember. -

Registered 12 years agoI had to stop because of some unfortunate real life related stuff. In the two months I was doing it I got myself to probably the 2nd or 3rd best shape of my life.
...and I used to be buff when I was a youngun.
I'll get back to it at some point, but life still isn't back on an even keel yet. -

Registered 13 years agoAh yes, hope things start picking up for you soon.
I have been out of the Gym for the past 4-5 months due to my deadlift form catching up with my lower back. Got discharged from the physio about 3 weeks ago and started back last week. Aside from the excruciating DOMS it feels good -

Registered 14 years agoI'm doing P90X now. It's hard work (well, the strength ones are as hard as you want them to be, they're not too bad, it's the others that are the problem). Unfortunately I quite spectacularly sprained my elbow playing football yesterday. My alarm went off this morning to get up and do chest and back, couldn't even push myself off my bed without squealing so probably going to be out for a week until I can straighten my arm again.
If you're reasonably supple you might find it ok. I am *very* inflexible (my tendons are far too short, hence my getting leg injuries all the time no matter how much I try to stretch) and have shit balance so plyo, yoga and kenpo tend to involve lots of pain and falling over, but I am persevering. The yoga in particular is just agony. It might be the least of a workout but it's by far the hardest for me. -

Registered 12 years agoThe Yoga was boring, but in my opinion it was easily one of the best workouts in there. -

Another 0.6kg off this week, that's 4kg total since I switched from P90 to Tapout XT. Just starting, finally, to get a hint of visible change going on, but mainly everything's under the surface. Stomach/core's getting very solid and I can't bloody wait till the rest of this surface fat drops off and I can really see the results of what I've been doing
