Over the last few weeks I've been getting shitty text subscription 'service' (?) messages, the type that redirect your phone internet browser somewhere no doubt pron related. The first time one came in I automatically thought it was something from Orange and the subject didn't seem suspicious as such so I opened it, low and behold there was some dodgy 69555 'come and meet me for sex' type link which I immediately closed and deleted the message. each week I've been getting one or two of these things which again I've been deleting straight away. however this morning i've now received a proper text message from them saying: 'Watch keeley Hazells Sensational sex tape on yr mobile! TODAY ONLY! Reply KEELEY now 4 yr menu or STOP to optout. Access £1.50/3 days' Now what on earth do I do? Should I text stop and hope everything stops (from what I can see I've not been charged for the service messages above yet) or should I just delete it and hope nothing comes on my bill? |

Registered 19 years agoI have a feeling they don't even know you've got a mobile phone. They probably have random dialers and might not even know you're there. Texting 'STOP' might give them a hint, or it might actually stop the messages. Maybe phone Orange. -
Text stop doesn't work.
I keep getting random women's names texted to me. Like "Lucy x" , "Scarlet x", "Julia x". First time it happened I went to reply to say "Sorry, think you have the wrong number." Only when I pressed the reply button it actually connected to the WAP and instantly signed me up to some £1.50 per text service. I texted STOP and kept getting them. I had to call O2 and get the companies details. Then after calling the company I had to literally shout down the phone at them before they would stop the service.
I still get the "Michelle x" texts, I've called them 3 times since to no avail. I would call them again but I've lost their details and can't be bothered calling O2 again. -

Is this legal? Can you not report them to OFCOM? Or Nicky Campbell.
"So Mr Devil, why do you think they were targetting you with dodgy porn?" -

Registered 18 years agoWhen I was getting spam messages a few years back on a Vodafone contract, I just called Vodafone customer support and said I was getting spam messages. They seemed to stop pretty quickly after that; I guess they just checked it out and checked the spammer out (ho ho ho). -
I was getting similar texts a while ago. It took a quid of my credit when I text back STOP. >
They just seemed to stop on their own though.
