Also the Visit Oslo tourist board account is advertising a black metal pilgrimage on Facebook today.

A "blackpacking" holiday they call it.

I'll be honest, it is tempting.

    HOLY FUCKING SHIT

So, this is remarkable. Female-fronted Italian (read: psychedelic) doom with just a pinch of avant-garde here and there.

One of those albums that leaves you thinking, "Where has this been all my life?"
If any of you cunts ignored this, correct your mistake now.

Then go listen to the new one, Feast for Water, which is fucking KILLER.

Belfry is less weird, sure. Feast has a vaguely Lana del Rey-cum-Twin Peaks vibe, though, which has got me at half mast.

Ulcerate - The Destroyers of All

This has probably been relegated to my second favourite of theirs (behind Everything is Fire), but it's still a masterpiece.

When they played this track live, I swear my head nearly fell off.

New Rivers of Nihil album seems pretty decent, not sure if it's just tricked me into thinking it's interesting by having lots of saxomophone in it, but so far I'm liking it a lot...

So...how did I enjoy megadeth for a few years but never get around to listening to countdown to extinction properly before.

Holy shit balls of fire it's amazing!! Like only one song I don't love. Sweating bullets is just yes.

Have you tied Youthansia? It's easily my favourite Megadeth album post RiP and nails the commercial metal buzz perfectly.

Oh I get that they're probably the most techy of those bands. I just find that kind of thing a widdlesome bore.
I totally get that too and a lot of techy guitar players make me want to cut off my ears (Michael Angelo Batio, anyone?), but Poland and Friedman are both consummate players. Technical as hell, yes, but highly musical.

How can anyone listen to Tornado of Souls and call it a widdlesome bore?

I used to love Megadeth, but nowadays I can't stand Mustaine's voice. Puts me off seeing all the classics live too.

Hahaha, his voice is ace. Like he sings entirely through his nose.

TBF I'd take Mustaine's voice over Hetfield's hilarious YEAH-EE-YEAH-EH croon that he's used for the last couple of decades. Mustaine's voice is shit but Hetfield's just sounds wrong when he sings something like Blackened.

Been listening to Monolord's newest album. In all honesty it's enjoyable but-not-amazing as nearly all the songs are pretty much interchangeable with those on their first two albums.

Did rather like this track though.

I purchased peace sells, good but nothing on countdown. Currently listening to youthansia, track 4 and awesome so far. So wasn't rust in peace, countdown and youthansia all in a row? That's some run they had.

Whaaaat? Peace sells is ten times the record Countdown is!

I like Rust in Peace as much as the next guy and Youthanasia is fine and all but Peace Sells.... That's the one for me.

    And Mustaine's voice is legendary!

@StixxUK found it okay but pretty samey all the way through the record. Countdown for me was so much better and had a much more variety.

Countdown was the first album i ever purchased on CD. Had it about a month before I even got a CD player. Great record to get on that format at the time thanks to its insane production.

But yeah, Peace Sells is the defacto Deth album

    Rust in Peace
    Peace Sells
    Countdown to Extinction
    Youthanasia

But they're all good. Endgame still gets a spin now and then too.

Thought Meloria was well. Actually i think most of their material is. Even Opus which i first got into it because it felts 60's in a lot of way has changed in my head due to Melloria.

So I basically had on countdown, peace sells and youthansia on constantly this week. I really don't get the praise for peace, sure there are a few Amazing songs but as a whole its nothing on the other two
