I love a bit of the NWOBHM sound but honestly modern efforts often tend to just sound like they're either just a Maiden/Priest tribute act or a parody. So I'm really liking this.

New Immortal is all right. It sounds like Immortal with Demonaz on guitar again, unsurprisingly.

I don't know my immortal at all but I recently got into At the Heart of Winter, and this sounds like that. Love this style of black metal.

The great irony there is that they almost certainly hate him :p

You should all contribute to this because it's kind of stalled the last couple of days and I would really like to see the film

In this time of kids putting 4k content on YouTube from their bedrooms, he needs 10k to make a DVD...
    ...is this 1999? :)

Seriously, DV fucking D? Not even 1080p. 720x480 US standard. I've sent him the question.

"with the sound quality you deserve”.

    "a high-def filming"
It needs to be a professional film, like you'd see on BBC Four or Netflix.

    DVD

I'm sort of surprised someone like gofasterstripe isn't interested. Their releases are usually pretty solid quality and they'll have all that Richard Herring Emergency Questions money to help fund the release.

DVD does feel a bit anachronistic but I do totally get the urge to have something tangible after his previous releases have been all digital audio or camcorder footage on YouTube.

    New Deafheaven album out.

Not sure if they can even be classed as metal any more but it's brilliant nonetheless.

These guys have been on a hot streak since Sunbather.

New Nathrakh is probably one of their most commercial sounding things but the main riff and rhythm is pretty sick. Shame it doesn't really go anywhere. Still find it quite enjoyable though.

@Rhaegyr it is brilliant isn't it? Album of the year contender for me. The new Skeletonwitch is cracking too.

@FuzzyDucky Same here, loved the lyrical style of his voice, sounded like a modern bard praising heroes of the past. I consider 4 of their albums (Crystal Logic, Open the Gates, Deluge and Mystification) among the best Epic Metal albums ever released.

Almost caught them live a couple of months ago (the "Up the Hammers" festival held here in Greeece) but I had an operation and was healing up so couldn't make it; now I won't get another chance...

Somehow this passed me by last year but there is no time limit on good metal and this is good. Very good. Black metal to be specific. If you are a fan of Svartidauđi, Blut Aus Nord, Deathspell Omega, Dodecahedron, etc. then I am pretty sure you will love this:

Full album on Bandcamp (https://dsknt.bandcamp.com/releases ) and Spotify as well.

Sounds like just the thing that I'll need for work on Monday! Cheers.

Anyone at bloodstock this year? And any band recommendations outside of the main stage line up which I'm largely familiar with?

I'm tempted to say Combichrist are worth a watch but they're probably shite now, and you're probably not going to be on pills.
