Talking of Knebel. There's a very NSFW version of the video floating about somewhere. Till is nuts.

Definitely liking it so far and Knebel is a fun, if slightly twisted song :-)

Yeah, that Lindemann album is pretty good.

I think the best songs are better than the last Rammstein album but I think the Rammstein one is a bit more consistent.

More I listen to it the more I think actually it might be better.

Loving that new Cattle Decap. They're 2nd stage headliners (after the main stage headliner) at Bloodstock this year - definitely planning to be there!

Lindemann is great too. The guy's just such a weird beast.

Went to see airborne last night- they are a consistently great rock gig. Dragged myself into the pit for the first time in ages, lost a shoe, found it again, drank too much and generally misbehaved.

Paying for it today, but no regrets!

Urfaust just released a new ep, popped up on my bandcamp app.

    What a nice unexpected surprise.

Ah, it's a split with Lugubrum.

Anyone heard the new stuff from Montecharge?

Absolutely ridiculous Swiss blackened hardcore with noise parts. Think Endon, Plebeian Grandstand, The Secret etc. but with more of that pg.99/City of Caterpillar screamo buildup thing.

Also they done a video with all nuclear bombs in and that's cooooool

If you'd asked me any time up to this weekend I'd have said that Max Cavalera had broadly lost it but this Beneath/Arise tour is incredible

@simpleexplodingmaybe I've seen him doing the classics a few times—the dude is a mess (bit of an acid casualty) but gosh, when Mass Hypnosis kicks off you can't help but headbang like a loon.

Shame Iggor has had to rein his speed in a little, but that's age, I guess.

Oh man, saw them in London - what a show. Absolutely relentless, not bad for a couple of 50 year olds!

On another note has anyone seen that certain ex-Dillinger Escape Plan members are making new music?

I'm amazed that before last night I'd never listened to season the the abyss album. I love it from the first to the last second! Wow.

One of my favourite Slayer albums - Dead Skin Mask caught me out with the little voice at the end the first time I heard it :-)

Is it okay to like this new Poppy stuff? Because I think I do. Possibly not actually metal though.

I originally had a shitty tape copy of it in my teens and thought the kid was saying "Mr. King". When I got it on CD I realised it was "Mr. Gein"... and then I learned about Ed Gein!

@Bichii Divine Intervention is often overlooked in Slayer's discography, but I'd say it's almost as good as Reign in Blood and Seasons.

Yeah Divine Intervention is an overlooked gem that mostly suffery from its mushy mixing. iirc Kerry King said this was the only album he thought could really use a remaster. I use a slight EQ when listening to it on Winamp, slightly lowering the bass and raising the mids so it sounds more like the previous albums. Makes it shine, it's evil.

In other news, just gave Black Sabbath's 13 another try, and I'm sad to say, it's still bad. I wonder where the praise came from, it's easily their worst album, even including the universally slammed Forbidden. And a lot worse than the Iommi solo albums preceding it.

@DrStrangelove Yep, once you get through the mix it's great (I enjoy it purely for the "well, it's different" factor).

Heck of a debut for Bostaph as well.

Black Sabbath's 13 wasn't great, but I especially had an issue with the mixing and production.

Everything was brick walled and compressed and the drums were sterile as fuck, which is not what you want at all in that kind of metal.

Rick Rubin is frankly a shit metal producer. The classics he's worked on have been in spite of his grubby fucking beard, not because of it.

    Decent hip hop producer though.

    @drhickman1983

True. It's happened several times that I looked up the producer of an album because the production was so awful, and it always was Rick Rubin. Some of those are so bad, if I was the artist I'd refuse to pay for that shit.

Was spot on with Reign in Blood though.
