| @drhickman1983 I’ve only heard a couple of tracks but the slower pace reminds me a lot of some of the slower early Venom tracks (but by people who know how to play their instruments) |

Registered 10 months ago@drhickman1983 I'm a massive Darkthrone fan but I haven't really dug anything they've done since 2010. I like the odd track here and there but it kinda washes over me nowadays. -

It's odd, considering they've toured all over the world and visited countries far and wide. Why Bruce would be so short sighted or arrogant, to believe Brexit would open borders rather constrict travel for the very industry he works in.

And they say Nicko McBrain is the thick one in the band. -

Registered 17 years agoIt's just disappointing really. Not that he voted for it (as everyone had their reasons, valid or not) but that he'd still try and defend it against all odds of observable reality. He's always come across as a decent guy in the past.
I did start to question the band's politics after Age of Innocence though. That was a proper warning flag! -

Registered 6 years agoIts pretty obvious that they all grew up watching Bambusters and Zulu as much as they did Hammer horror and Monty Python so its not really a shock.
You’d think having a toe in airlines as well as touring might have given him a warning that maybe patriotism wasn’t going to be enough. -

Registered 7 years agoFinally got around to the new Fear Factory. Decent enough, but not upper echelon for them. In fact I think the previous Genexus is better.
The new one was apparently heavily crowd funded from an unfinished state and it does seem to have a bit of a 'worked up' feel to me.
This did prompt me to go back to Demanufacture and Obsolete, and those two really are legacy albums, absolutely superb. -

Sabaton have announced a big UK arena tour. I hadn’t realised they were so big over here.
In other news, Gojira also touring next year, including Alexandra Palace, which I've never been to but heard bad things about the sound... tickets booked anyhow.
Been listening to Blood Incantation this morning, to me the pinnacle of modern death metal. -
@StixxUK I think so. They just always struck me as very much a European festival band who you never meet any British fans of.
I’ve been revisiting some other Max stuff off the back of that new album.
Its really odd seeing him now saying Soulfly was him starting with nothing and no backing when that first album was produced by Ross Robinson and had guest spots from Burton, Dino and Christian from Fear Factory, Chino from Deftones, Fred Durst and DJ Lethal from Limp Bizkit, Benji from Dub War, the live band had Logan from Machine Head in it and it was released with at least two special editions as well as the album itself.
Its basically a dream team all star line up for late 90s Roadrunner Records.
Although admittedly after two solid nu-metal albums trying to add more thrash back in from 3 onwards never really worked and its all been pretty unmemorable as they turned into a hire a new backing band every other record type outfit. But to start with you couldn’t open Kerrang or Metal Hammer without having the ‘metal Bob Marley’ hype pushed at you.
That first album still has some solid songs on it too.
