Registered 16 years ago@FuzzyDuck it really is, I've listened to a lot ofetal, all different kinds and I can honestly say I've never heard anything like it. At first I was thinking it was a bit Opethy but it really is something else entirely. -

Are you familiar with their older stuff? Their third album, 'Obscura' (yep, the band took their name from it
) is the dictionary definition of a complete mindfuck, one of the most unique metal albums you'll ever hear.

Registered 16 years agoIt is pretty fucking ridiculous how close some of the tracks on the new Avenged Sevenfold album are to classic metal tracks.
Others are pretty good.and catchy in their own right.
Still a big shame they never lived up to the promise of Waking the Fallen.

Registered 14 years agoPicked up a Gamma Ray twin pack of Insanity and Genius, and Land of Free. Excellent albums. Can't believe I left it so long to grab them.
I need some new decent/original power metal. Its crap having to wait for the big three (Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian and Helloween) to release a new album just because everything else out there seems like generic uninspired shite in comparison. -

Registered 5 years agoFirst time I've heard a Lost Horizon song, quite enjoying Pure right now Pretty much gave up on modern day (much prefer the classic stuff) heavy metal 5-6 years ago, as it was all sounding the same to me. Am willing to try out new bands though.

Oh, had a couple of listens to the new Carcass and it is excellent. Not earth shattering for me personally but I have always been more of a "Reek of Putrefaction" and "Symphonies of Sickness" era fan anyway. -
