Anyone else been getting problems with lag/freezing when using their friends list since Halo 3? Seems to be a problem (?).

    Look here.

Been getting this the past few days. Only seems to happen from within the dash and not when playing games.

    wtf

Yeah, started happening over the last few days, really annoying

At some point, throwing hardware at a network performance problem doesn't make things any quicker.

I wonder how far away MS are from that. I can't think of another online network that has (or the potential to have) more traffic...

Apparently it's because of the huge increase in network traffic. It happens when I'm just on the dash. If I sign into another (non XBL) profile I don't get the problem.

I've always had that. For months in fact. It's because my Friends List is so full. ;)

It's annoying though, but nothing to do with Halo 3.

Getting silly the amount of blade hangs I was having last night, now there were plenty of people active on my friends list but having the dashboard lock up when I'm checking someone's achievements is something I've not encountered before.

It was pot luck whether checking a message or inviting someone would mean I'd have to reset.

Really? I (honestly) have been experiencing blade lag for months.
  • Deleted user 1 October 2007 10:10:08
I was round a mates on Saturday who bought the Halo 3 360, and as soon as he got onto live he experienced the friends blade hang, with 3 friends active.

It is a hell of a lot quieter than my 360 though.

Although the 360 might appear to have crashed, it hasn't, and inserting a game or DVD movie which auto-boots will force the frozen blade to slide off the screen. It is very annoying when it happens though regardless of whether its a problem with Xbox Live or having too many Friends online at once. If you can have 200 Friends in your list then the system should be able to cope with them. I have around 60 Friends and there are rarely more than 20 online at once yet since the release of Halo 3 I've been getting this annoying Guide freezes. Last time I had them was during the Halo 3 beta so it seems more than a coincidence to me.

It's less effort to switch off and back on.

My mate's 360 gave up the ghost during one of those turn it off turn it back on sessions last night.

First day back from his honeymoon, died with Halo 3 in the drive unplayed.

What's most annoying is that the 360 will sit there and be unresponsive yet it's only because of network conditions, not the machine. Spotted this a few months back when I was having particularily choppy internet access in evenings and the blades would be laggy as shit until I got the "Disconnected from Xbox Live" message an suddenly everything was silky smooth again.

What's EVEN MORE ANNOYING was the other day my BB was arsed and because of this all my XBLA games decided to be trial versions instead of full versions.

If there are like 20 people online, it's oke but when there are 60 or 70 people online, it's just fucked up. I don't think the system was designed with information request for that many people at once.

I'd reckon that it would be quite a big toll on the service to have this many people online.

    But it's Fall now...

It'll most likely be start of next month, IIRC.

Streets of Rage 2, Space Giraffe, Bomberman - and of course, Hexic - I found remained full games, without being connected to Live.

they all do. however. if you move them about from hdd to/from memcard or have redownloaded either to your box or to another box then they will require access to live to validate the license.

What happens if you get rid of Live? I'm moving soon and won't have access to Live for some time. Will this mean that I can't access the games I've paid for because I've moved them about?

more than likely. why not test it. disconnect from live and see what happens ... let us know. i'm just reiterating what i've understood from other posts and from MS's terms of use (can read this just before downloading something).

i can't. all mine work but then again they are still on the first box i downloaded them on and i've not moved them or anything. they also work across all profiles on the box.

Ah ok, thanks anyway. I'll give it a bit of a test later on and see what happens.

MS should really sort the Arcade issue. Force a 'validation' to the console it's running on, but only so many times a year or somesuch.

They should also allow you to move country and keep Live account when expired. Dicks.

What about moving country? I am about to move from Austria to Switzerland - anything I should keep in mind or are you talking about something else?

people said the rumour that ms and bungie splitting was impossible, so let's just keep our fingers crossed?

Well MS + Bungie is possible as that's two companies going their own separate ways... shit like that happens all the time.

MS Supporting DivX could potentially hurt MS' relationship with all the studios they work with to make content for Live (admittedly that's only really in the US) - but if it could play back HD xvids who the hell is going to pay MS to rent HD flicks when they could just download 'em?
