Just added my team - think I've got a nice balance given the stingy amount of points allocated

Talking of the moaners next door, why are Wales and Scotland being allowed to play games at home, with the obvious advantage that carries for them?

Hey, if you were French, would you a) not want to give the Aussies and the Kiwis as tough a set of games as possible and b) want to get the Welsh and the Scottish out of France as much as possible. ;)

England were invited to play their games at home as part of France's World Cup bid. Unfortunately, England being England, they decided to put on their own World Cup bid, put two fingers up to the French, lost, and now suffer the consequences.

And Wales are only playing 2 out of 4 games in Cardiff; the other 2 are in Nantes.

Also the quarterfinal in Cardiff is between pools C & D teams and therefore will not involve Wales.

Ooooh, is it that time when all us football fans desperately try to pretend we're egg chasers? Good oh. :)

Come on, only a Welshman would start a rugby thread, even if it will mean ultimate depression, we love the sport so.

That's weird, although as with Wales I couldn't see us getting any knockout games as home, and the groupe games *shouldn't* be enough of a problem to wish we'd had home advantage.

    +1

EDIT: Although I see no reason not to support England if they're lucky enough to get farther than Wales. I was very happy when they won the trophy four years ago, it was a cracking final.

You are a very strange Welshman, my friend. In football, I will support England in finals tournaments because, let's face it, Wales aren't there. However, in rugby, it's a whole different ball game :p

How do you feel now the media have spent the last four years telling the UK how we won the World Cup?

I don't get that effect because I live in England anyways, so I assume they're talking to Englishmen, but I see how it would annoy. That's the media's fault though.

In fact that's probably a huge part of it. I've lived in England for over seven years, my partner is English, and most of my friends are English. Argh I've gone native!

Not a bad theory, even if I'm not used to seeing the phrase five-eighth, I'll go for the good old Welsh "fly half" :p (prefer outside half myself though).

Who are we saying it was in 1995 then, Mehrtens?

If it makes you feel better, I can assure you that no English rugby fans have ever dreamed of including the Welsh in there. So don't worry, you didn't win it after all. ;P

tbh, there's been little build-up on the telly from what I can see - don't think the media fancy their chances this time round

France look a little lacking at the moment. Argies playing much better.

    Come on you Pumas.

This World Cup doesn't seem all that hyped up compared to previous years. I wonder if it's because it's unlikely any of the home nations will win.

France just can't get good ball. If the Argies were to win it would throw this group up. If Ireland could then do a job on France they would be out.
