Wow that will either be great for Ireland or a disaster.

Don't want to have to need a result against Argentina in the last game if they keep playing like that.

    Excellent win for Argentina!

Of course now the Irish will feel the backlash! Oh well one of the 3 weren't going to qualify.

/crosses fingers that it is France

What this could mean is that either Ireland/France could end up meeting the NZ in the Quarters. That would be terrible because if Argentina make it to the Semi's they would be against England/South Africa and they could beat both those teams. This means they could go all the way to the Final! What would that say to the stingy threesome down South I wonder.

Wasn't a particularly great game of rugby but it was tense.

Argentina scored all their points in the first half and French just couldn't break through the rush defense. As such they were most dangerous from the loose. That said they destroyed the argentine pack in the scrum and maul.

Blinking heck. I didn't even get the chance to type about the kick-off.
    Uh oh.

Edit: missed their second try as I was posting that...

Where was the F1? I'm confused, it was on ITV1 and 4 here in Wales, and no Grand Prix! Awful by Wales in the first half, alright in the second when the Canadians went to pieces. Gareth Thomas should start, that's for sure. And the Aussies will rip us apart.

Would've preferred to watch the F1 to be honest, this match was being shown at exactly the same time on S4C.

What do we F1 fans get in exchange? Crap highlights at 10.45pm tonight. Bloody awful.

Stupid ITV Wales. Yet another reason to get satellite and stop watching crap "Butty TV".

I have satellite and no Grand Prix! Why they screened it on two channels with different presenter teams, I don't know. I only realised it was on ITV4 at the end, and to be honest, I would have preferred to watch it on there, Francois Pienaar and Scott Quinnell are infinitely better than Rob Howley and Phil Davies in the comment stakes, and don't get me started on that excuse for a presenter they had on.

This Brian Habana is a bit special eh? 52-7 to SA, Samoa put up a decent fight 1st half, had a try at the start of the 2nd harshly ruled out (imo). We're going to get torn a new one.

So a rather more convincing win by South Africa over Samoa than England over the USA. I don't think the Samoans can beat the English due to there power up front.

Ended 59-7. The SA fitness was key, and I suspect it will be the same for England.

fucking hell that was awful.. catch the fucking ball Ireland! Trying to run the ball from so deep isn't our style.. we're not good at it and it showed.. the only thing we did right tonight was the scrum..but we wont be able to boss France and Argentina like that.. basically need to beat Georgia, France and Argentina now..

The one sport we're actually any good at and we fuck it up at the first hurdle. A bad weekend for Irish sport.

Based on the weekend's performances, I can't see anyone else beating the Southern Hemisphere sides.

So after the first weekends worth of matches really it is looking like the southern hemisphere sides are going to dominate this tournament.

/bets on South Africa vs New Zealand final

NZ SHOULD WIN but just like US Basketball team at the Olympics and Brazil in soccer WorldCup, the best teams DON"T normally win.

I think SA has a good chance this year
