The worst is Twitter followed by YouTube and Instagram. I'm surprised none of these "e-celebs" who use them have floated away considering their inflated egos... |

Registered 17 years agoMy missus has some chronic health issues so I have to keep myself involved with the various schools shit and a school run group that relies on facebook, otherwise I would delete my account tomorrow. It's occasionally useful for a public rant against a huge multi national though! -

Glad I'm not the only one.
I'm bored with it too.
It's like watching a load of apathetic people just waiting for someone's fit mate to come along so they can start sharking 'em.

Registered 17 years agoAnyone know what this is about and how to counter it?
I don't have an instagram account. My girlfriend recently got a request from an instagram account to follow her on instagram.
The account has a similar name to my online nickname, so she checked with me whether it was my account. It's not my account.
However, this account is following over 90 people, all of whom are people that I have or had contact with, either through facebook or email.
It seems iffy, like they scraped some publicly information somewhere, cross referenced it with people on Instagram and started sending follow requests.
I assume the end goal is to send spam at some point? Is there anything I can do besides contacting people to inform them that the account following them on instagram is not related to me?

Registered 17 years agoIn a perfect world you would report it to Instagram/Facebook and they would delete the account. Now you will have to ask your girlfriend to report it and then it will probably end up in your shadow profile that you are a spammer. -

Registered 16 years agoSo my Instagram account has been hacked. They have changed my username and my email addresses are no longer recognised at login so there is no way to reset or lock my account.
As far as I can see there is no way to contact FB or Instagram directly to ask them for help....... can't see a solution.
Any thoughts anybody?
I have changed all my other accounts passwords to be sure. -

Registered 2 years agoEh, not a fan of Facebook or Instagram, but can't argue that it can be useful. Thanks to the Neighbours Group on Facebook, I'm aware of accidents, repair works and other stuff going on in my block. -

Registered 10 years agoYesterday someone posted a video to my town's Facebook group of a local drunk noshing off another local drunk (both male), in broad daylight in the middle of the town centre with people walking by. I very much wish I could unsee it. -

Registered 13 years agoI've been a victim of 'fake news'. Nothing major, but a house on my street was broken into last night, and the local neighbourhood watch FB group has reported it was my house that got burgled.
I've had concerned friends, family and neighbours contact me about it, and I've calmly explained to them that the address on FB is wrong, but, unbelievably, they've been asking questions like 'are you sure? Facebook says its your house!'. Yes, I'm fucking sure that my front door wasn't kicked in last night, and my valuables not stolen, and my door not boarded up, unlike the one down the street.
These people are genuinely intelligent, rational people but the power social media has to sway them is scary. -

Yeah why would they put your address if it was somewhere else.
Have you checked all your valuables?
