My friend recently got us all to sign up for Bebo recently. I dunno, it's ok, quite handy to see photos after a birthday or holiday because that everyone seems to do. Though, I do get messages from the a previous night saying, that was a good night eh, nice dancing blah blah but didn't you say that to my face when we went home that night, duh! Another stupid thing was going out to dinner but meeting at friends flat before hand. I knew the restaurant but when we drove down I was told it was fully booked and we were going to a different place, didn't you get my Bebo message about the change? Feck off! Though, I did sign up to Facebook to see what the fuss was about. Seems nice and neat which I like. Haven't used to find friends yet anyway. |

Registered 20 years agoI've got it! I've got it. What you need is a social exclusion thing.
Something that's like Facebook, and people join, and have groups but when you join a group it automatically emails people to tell them that they have been excluded on the grounds that they smell / are ugly / collect postcards of telegraph poles.
I'm gonna do this and make my first million lire.

Why shouldn't I defend it? It's useful to me. I don't get bombarded with application requests, my friends on it aren't glued to it 24/7, just updating once in a while to let you know how they are and what they've been doing, and it's unbelievably useful for arranging parties and meetups between everyone.
It sounds more like you have an issue with friends on it that are wankers than anything else inherent to Facebook itself. If they bug the fuck out of you, stick them on limited profile and you don't see their shit anymore unless you actively seek it out. Done. -

As a tool to arrange a good dogging meet I'm sure it's invaluable. -

Registered 15 years agoI didn't even know I was registered on facebook until someone I used to work with about 6 years ago sent me a friend request. I decided to have a look. Tracked down a few people I went to Uni with and then got really bored.
To me, this sort of thing a MySpace are just boring. Surely people can make real frineds if they want to - not internet friends.
Oh well, each to their own I suppose - not for me. -

I think it's probably because I'm surrounded by people at work who are on it ALL DAY and I'm getting a distorted view of how people use the site.
Sounds like you use it like a fancy email tool, which is fine. It's the people who spend all their free time on there who need help. -

That is the best idea I've heard for a long, long time. Let's invest in this together pj - we can share the wealth and sit on piles of money while pelting the inventors of facebook with rotten fruit as they lie in the gutter. -
I find Facebook quite useful - it's basically what Friends Reunited was supposed to be, just a whole lot more practical. Good way of finding old friends and getting in touch with them. Where you take it after that is up to you isn't it? I don't see how anyone could or would want to sit there refreshing it all day, it's not like that.
If you don't like it, don't use it. /shrug -

Maybe you heard a different story to me. The one I heard was Trade Unions saying that the current trend for banning outright social networking sites was wrong, and that employees should be able to access it on their lunchbreaks, not whilst working. -

Registered 17 years agoWhy not call the thread "I hate my friends"? If all the people sending you requests are cunts, then a lot of the people you know are cunts. You dont have to accept a request, you can just deny them.
Im still finding it usefull, though not havign net at home at the moment not checked it recently. I find it great for sending little messages to people, especially those who have moved out the country.
I also like the photos, managed to see pics of a lot of friends new kids, and things like that.
End of the day, you get out of it what you put into it, and dont have to get involved with all the shitty apps and the like. -
