I'm glad this got bumped, never seen the final cut differences but I will closer attention now. "I want more life Father". Wow
Its my favourite film, " Too bad she won't live, but then again, who does?"

I think LA is focussed on heavy industry and factories rather than population - the gouts of flame, the dirt, the pipes everywhere, the huge Tyrell building which can't just be an office. Doesn't gel with replicants not being allowed on Earth but that's the way I've always seen it.
It's been a while since I read it, but if I recall correctly in "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep" it's explained that most of the buildings are from before people left for off-world. Even though so many people have remained on Earth everything is just left decaying due to lack of proper maintainence. It explains why Sebastian is living in that building by himself.

There's also the possibility that its about migration and 'white flight' as with Americans moving out of inner cities to live in suburban neighbourhoods most notably Detroit, in the future they are leaving earth to use their wealth in a new frontier, and the replicants are created to work as their slaves and have begun to rebel against their oppression.

If they splashed out a little more money on getting decent HD television/films and little less on Strictly Come Dancing, I am sure they could show such things.

The funny thing about Blade Runner is that, as a piece of cinematographic art, it is (IMO) still unparallelled, but as a movie, well - it's just not terribly good.

Shite like Strictly is on there to pull in the punters as a public service.

Hopefully in a few years they'll be able to drop the BBC HD channel and we can just have all the BBC channels in HD.

Well, years ago they showed STTNG in mono because it was cheaper as a deal. I have no idea if it would be cheaper to only buy something in SD.

How do you feel about Twins? Awesome Gash?

Just had a really odd bbc 2 station ident flash up in the middle of this. I'm be well vexed if I was taping it. Do people still record & keep stuff off TV?
