PS3 is a year younger of course it has less games,but look at the ones out already. Resistance rocks and its set in Europe,Heavenly Sword is awesome,so is Warhawk,Haze is coming soon so is UT3.Why support the USA, we dont need them controlling everything...M$ suck. -

Registered 20 years agoI nabbed my Halo3 SE 360 from Blockbuster and they're pretty good with console swaps in my local; so if you get a loud one just take it back and say it shut down a couple of times or something rubbish. I think saying about the chipset will get you a few odd looks.
Whether mine has the legendary 'Falcon' chipset or not, I don't know. I'm not about to shine a torch up it's arse to find out. It's quieter, the drive is still the loudest bit, but it's a ton quieter than the 1st edition unit. It also has HDMI and it's a lovely green colour.

The Halo3 edition doesn't necessarily have 'Falcon' in it. I've read posts claiming to have the Halo3 edition with the old heatsink visible. The relevant thread on the xbox forum has conflicting reports.
What does seem to be the case is that 65nm has been introduced in with batch 0734, and that we're likely to see more 65nm in later batches. Possibly depending on the factory too...
I'm currently being pestered into buying a 360. I've held off this long because of the quality issues, but my resistance is crumbling with each EG 9+/10. I'm trying to hold out for a 65nm Elite now...
It would be *really* handy for me if new UK 360 buyers were to post the batch number off the box on here - and where they bought it... -

Registered 17 years agoWell I got my Halo 3 Edition and its a manu dat on the 3rd Aug and is lot number 0731.
So I doubt it's a Falcon. But as it only costs a £10 trade with my old one and 4 games I'm happy. -

Zavvi? Who with the what now? I got my Elite Aug 26th from Virgin, why would my warranty need honouring?
Being able to take it back into store if it RRODs within 12months was a big selling point, especially as it would likely be traded for a newer chipset version.

Was wondering, I have a Samsung 32" LE32R88BD LCTV, which is better 720p or 1080i? HDMI connection fwiw -

It's WAY quieter than my mate's year old aircraft takeoff model. Not silent, but I'd be surprised if P$£ is much quieter.
Lovely console. Only problem is that the 'standby downloads' function twice in a row resulted in the console turning back ON after the dls finished.
M$ should pay my electric bill. The first time, PGR2 was in the tray. The console was crashed on the PGR2 title screen. Not impressed.
I gave it another chance, and this time I left the tray empty. Next morning it was on the menu screen.
I'd like to think that the latest updates this week will have fixed this bug, but I don't fancy paying to test it.
M$ should plant a tree on my behalf! -

Must say picture quality isn't as good as I'd have expected. Kinda grainy, kinda jaggie, even through HDMI. Reminds me somewhat of those non-representative displays you get in the stores.
So I'm guessing I don't have my TV calibrated properly, anyone with sufficient know-how to tell me which knobs I need to tweak and adjust for a better picture, or is this as good as it gets?
