Get the elite, man. Just make sure it's a EURO august release, and not a USA import. Cause EURO Elites have the Falcon processor (65Nm), it's a fact. I've played bioshock all friggin' day without any brakes, and the Xbox works just fine. |

It's not a particularly big issue. Stole my nephew's old premium to play bioshock over 3 days doing about 12 hours a day.
lol. That should be expected, not celebrated.
Didn't explode or anything.

Yes it is. Period. Research xbox.com forums for proof. August console has been cracked open just to see what processor it had, and it has 65nm. GG.

(Because I was the person that originally linked that the 65nm was going to be here for Europe launch stuff and it turned out to be utter crap when the usual suspects had a look at the machines) -

Yeah, that was the thread where they changed their mind half way about the 360 getting 65nm yet.

My Euro Elite does not have a 65nm processor.

By the look of things they're in production, but it takes awhile to get from the assembly line to the final boxed product. Give it two months or so and they'll probably be common-place -

Ok? I'm sure Manny Garcia said they were all Ben Q.
Weird.
sadly not, m/s are still churning out the loud as hell dvd-drives even with the new elite, getting the quieter ben-q drive is a pure lottery chance.
personnally im going to wait till both the new cpu and quieter drives are common place before upgrading to elite. fingers crossed my launch date xbox keeps working (mind you theres that 3year warranty now

Registered 16 years agoI'm on the cusp of finally getting a 360 (got a HDTV earlier this month, plus my birthday is coming up) and now am *almost* certain that I'll get an Elite.
I was always going to get a Premium and use a VGA or Component cable to connect it to the TV, but that bumps the price up to 270 so I got thinking that for an extra 30 quid I might as well get the elite. Plus the Elite has HDMI, and I don’t know about anyone else but I have read lots of forums and I am still absolutely completely confused as to which is better- VGA or component cables- with a HDTV. And so another bonus is that having HDMI included negates that decision.
One thing that really puts me off both is the loudness of the 360 and the reliability. though. Not experienced the noise first hand but it does sound quite off-putting. So much so that in the past week I have actually considered (please don’t flame me here!) of getting a PS3. My rationale being that it is an internet-ready (included wireless and no annual service charge), quiet, reliable machine. Now of course I know that there are no way near as many great games but I barely have time for more than a few hours of gaming a week so the PS3 catalogue might just suffice.
Darn, reading this back has just confirmed that I really haven’t made my mind up after all.
The gaming side of me is yearning to play the likes of bioshock and halo 3 but the sensible/geeky side of me wants an all-inclusive reliable package.
Argh the confusion of the consumer! Still, I am in a very fortunate position to be able to choose one at all so really can’t complain. Decisions decisions... -

If you want to play the games you're going to have to put up with noisy and unreliable hardware. -

Registered 15 years agoThe sound is honestly not that bad - if you've played PC games that cache off a disc, you'll be pretty used to it already.
I thought the Premium was only £250 now? The only real difference is the bigger HDD and different colour (as Premiums will be going HDMI soon, too). -

Registered 16 years agoYes, it's 250 but add a VGA or component cable and that brings it to 270. HDMI cable is bundled free with the Elite.
In my heart of hearts i know i'll be ultimately disappointed if i don't get a 360 (i'm buying something to play great games after all, not to be quiet!) so think i'll take the plunge and get an elite (cable confusion with the premium has driven me towards this!) tomorrow. -
MMk, i'll find the link when i get home, and I'm sure of it that it has falcon processor. It's a far more smaller and thinner processor, there is also a huge difference between °.
