| Cheers. I'd ruled out netbooks and tablets for usability reasons. Don't mind second hand either. |

Registered 9 years agoLooking for a good gaming laptop, who would look for a bad gaming laptop?
Anyway, no real price limit for me, but nothing highly overpriced, maybe around 1000$, could go higher if I wanted.
Not really sure what games I'd be playing.
Starcraft 1&2, previous Hitman games, Minecraft, Portal 1&2, others.
Thanks for any help!

Registered 15 years agoThe Y580 avoids the throttling issues that a lot of newer gaming laptops have and reviewed well at notebookcheck. Should easily run SC1/2 on ultra as well as all the other games in that list. -

If you get a copy of PC Gamer, they have a 15 quid off voucher in it usually. I can find one for you if you need one.

Registered 15 years agoI recently bought a Sony Vaio E series for around 650 quid, it plays all the games I want to play (Fifa, Skyrim, Hitman, FO:NV) on high res (even though it defaults to medium/high usually)
Touchscreen too \o/ -

Registered 16 years agoFIFA runs beautifully on my laptop too.
Bit worried about the next gen consoles, will they result in FIFA using the old engine for 2 years on PC again? Also will my laptop even run a new FIFA engine -

If you are going to d/l lots then go for a hard disk above 500gb. The rest doesn't matter too much since you only want to do basic stuff. I'd be tempted to say the one that's most comfortable to use, so weight (is it to sit on your lap?), touchpad size and keyboard would be my concerns. You could do worse than go and try a few in a pc store and see what you like.
