I've just been asked to buy a new laptop for one of the guys in the office. The budget is around the £1000 mark. Must be able to run Adobe CS6 without any problems, and use windows 10 pro. Is there anybody out there who uses CS6 who can recommend a decent laptop at around that price? -
Currently looking at this one.
Any good? -

Registered 4 years agoDell Inspiron 15.6 looks pretty good since it has core I7 and GTX 1050 TI. Have looked the gaming test on Youtube and most of games are running good on high setting. It might be your best luck for gaming laptop around 1000 dollars. Some of them are having similar specs are Acer VX 15 and Razer Blade.

Buying a gaming laptop is harder work than I thought. Got a budget of around £1400 which would easily get me a good one with a 1060 GPU but I've also noticed a couple in that price range that will bag me a 1070.
I've no idea what to go for. HP OMEN 17-w200na is the favourite for a 1070 within my budget.
Windows 10 Home 64
Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ Quad-core processor
NVIDIA G-SYNC™ 43.9 cm (17.3") diagonal Full-HD (1920 x 1080) anti-glare display
8GB RAM with 128GB SSD and 1TB storage
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1070 (8 GB GDDR5)
In the past I've always favoured a desktop setup but with work commitments and travelling it makes more sense for me to get a decent gaming laptop. -
I used to get MSI in the past but after recent developments with them lying about upgradeable GPUs I won't touch them again. My mate has an Alienware R4 which is brilliant in regards to build quality and performance so I may go the dell outlet route yet. I had an Alienware 13 around 5 years ago which was good.
Wow how much is that predator 21 lol.

Registered 12 years agoI don't know how good it is really, but I hoping it'll let me record music and catch up on a few games from the last few years. I know I won't be maxing out anything recent but hopefully it'll do GTA V justice: https://m.johnlewis.com/hp-pavilion-14-al118na-laptop-intel-core-i7-8gb-ram-256gb-ssd-nvidia-940mx-14-inch-full-hd-gold/p/3148688
Plus it's gold which suits me because I'm ballin AF.

Looks like you can get 1080p around 30fps with some settings tweaks as well. Just check YT matey. -
Yeah I'm having a good look and seeing what's what. I definitely want a 1070 gpu and 17inch screen so it does narrow down my choices. -

Registered 19 years ago17" is completely not portable.
I'd recommend a good desktop and a midrange laptop with 15" screen max.
Currently I'm using a top end Gigabyte laptop with a monitor and keyboard + mouse plugged into it as if it were a desktop and it's cramping my style somewhat.
If you're dead set on a laptop, wait a little while, desktop grade 1080ti will be in them soon enough.

we've got a similar one, an msi, though i think it's i5, not i7, but it runs variety of recent stuff fairly happily...

I've ordered 3 with different screen sizes so I will see which one I get on with the best.
OMEN by HP 17-w202na
Gigabyte P35X v6-CF1
Alienware 13
Cheers for the help peeps. -
Last week I managed to bag an alienware 17 R4 for £1300 which im well pleased with.
Alienware 17 R4
i7 -6700HQ
gtx 1070 8gb GPU
QHD 1440p 120ghz display
32 GB DDR4 ram
256gb ssd
1TB HDD
3 year warranty
I know AW has its haters but I've had a couple before and really like them. I love the build on this and whilst it's hardly portable it's a cracking performer. Dell had the same spec on the outlet for £1800 and that was just with a 1 year warranty.
Happy gaming

Registered 6 years agoI'm after a laptop to replace my reliable Asus which has lasted almost 6 years.
It's not going to be used for anything more testing than Youtube/Netflix/Excel etc. Maybe the odd game of something that isn't Crysis.
I was looking to spend around the £300 mark but if something decent comes up for a little bit more then I won't say no! -

Registered 20 years agoFor 300GBP you're either looking at a cheap celeron machine - basically a big netbook, but since they've dropped the netbook name now they claim it's a laptop - and about 50 quid change, or a refurb windows 8 machine. Proper win 10 machines seem to cost about 150 quid more my research has shown.

Registered 6 years agoYeah. I have been keeping my eye on HUKD for any i3/i5 for around the £350 mark so I'm hoping the closer it gets to Black Friday the better chance of having something drop in price.
Are there any brands to go for/stay away from? -
... from £1500 to £300.
Good luck, super_whiskey
