| I don't read them, but there's more than one reason the current Halo books are all about the Forerunners. |

Registered 18 years agoThey're going to Kinect the shit out of this aren't they ?/o\ -
They might add some Kinect, but I sincerely doubt it will take anything away/add anything too significant to distract from normal pad play.
In other news, the world will end tomorrow, won't it ?/o\ etc etc yawn -

Registered 17 years agoI was thinking, I wonder if Halo 6 will be their next-gen launch title. Very smart marketing if they do, as I'll have to buy one day 1 with the game. I'm sure there'll be many others who feel the same. -

Registered 18 years agoWell maybe not Halo 6, probably Halo 5. Planning a trilogy from the beginning will probably set out a pretty cool story and a nice ending to each game. -
It seems Frankie is to continue the weekly update tradition via the official site, which pleases me:
http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/news/headline/the-halo-bulletin-inaugural-frankie-edition/59856
This particular bit is literally music to my ears:
"On the subject of audio – everything has been remastered – sound effects beefed up and remixed, but more importantly, we took Marty O’Donnell’s industry-changing soundtrack and gave it some deep, smoove loving, with a re-orchestration and brand new recording with the Skywalker Orchestra. So the perfect melodies, the movements and the themes are intact, but just glowingly more rich and lavish (and expensive). Anyone who’s heard the similar project with Halo Legends will know sort of what to expect, but expect it to be better."
Big fan of the Halo scores here (and scores in general) and I cannot wait to hear the music performed by a full symphonic orchestra. In fact since learning this I'm more excited by the soundtrack release than I am the game itself. -

Some folks were asking about the music in the Halo 4 Teaser Trailer - it was composed by Neil Davidge, composer and producer on the last three Massive Attack albums.

Halo 2 was definitely the high point of difficulty, far harder than 1 (on Legendary).
Reach was harder than Halo 3, I think. -

Registered 16 years agoAs an exceptionally shit gamer, I have to respectfully disagree. I found Reach a lot easier, thanks to the Flood in Halo 3. Though if you take out the Flood and the whole Cortana level I'd have a harder time deciding which is harder.
I get that conceptually the Flood are supposed to be a huge threat, and part of the fear is you can't deal with them with the same tactics that work against other enemies - they're relentless and will consume the universe if they get their way. I like them narratively, but in gameplay they just feel at odds with everything else Bungie have built.
I'd still buy Halo 4 if it had the Flood, of course. I think they're one of the series' weakest elements, but it's still Halo! I can't wait to see where the story takes us. I for one hope we get out hands on some of the Forerunner weapons we see pop up on Halo Legends, especially the sword. -

Halo 2> Halo 3> Halo ODST = Halo Reach > Halo 1. -

Registered 12 years agoYou know what upsets me a little bit about Halo 4? The name. It kinda makes it seem like Reach never happened - like it was just a sidestep, like ODST. Which it wasn't. -

Registered 18 years agoI hope they don't call it Halo 4. New trilogy and all that. Start fresh. They should name them like books.
Halo : Forerunners,
Halo : No Flood \o/
Halo : Similar to Flood

Hopefully just that trailer. Halo needs an orchestral composer to do it justice.
NO HANS ZIMMER. -

That Halo riff at the end of the trailer was not good. -

Registered 17 years agoTBH I thought Reach score was very poor. Not a single memorable tune in it. I think it might be time for Halo to go with someone new.
But it has to be someone who is involved with the development and the game and can/will be around for the sequels. That means no Hollywood composer stepping in for a one off with generic stuff. Or what CaptQuint said, no Hans Zimmer.

Apparently their bosses at MS think otherwise.
Q: So will "Halo 4" be a Kinect game?
A: I'm sure we'll have some Kinect in it but we're not that far along.

Registered 18 years agoIt's not like 343 can say no to Microsoft, they are Microsoft. But wait and see. The Halo formula is successful and has a huge fan base. Don't think they want to rock the boat too much which is a good and bad thing. I fear what multi player will end up like because more of the same is rather dull now and if they start putting Kinect in as the new features then oh dear. At least with single player they can experiment a bit more and will probably be a bit fresher with new enemies and equipment. It looks like customising weapons will be the new thing as MC does it in the trailer. -
Kinect as a peripheral thing is fine by me, but if it's anywhere near integral, which I doubt it will be, and I'd be very annoyed. Multiplayer is built on such a particular foundation that I doubt it will change significantly, due to it being well-loved (and superb, imo). But even something like AAs changed it quite a bit, so it probably doesn't need a wholesale change.
