I'm pissed off with Royal Mail too.
I wouldn't mind strikes in theory, if they actually performed a good service consistently.
Here's a wee run down of the things that have happened in the last two months...
1)We've had the post delivered on Sunday mornings for the past three weeks (what? Too fucking lazy/hungover to finish your rounds on Sat were you????)
2)We received a letter two weeks ago that was stamp-dated 8th Aug!!!
3)We sent a birthday card a distance of 20miles across London.
    IT TOOK TEN FUCKING DAYS!
4)Mail arrives having been opened on a regular basis.
5)A parcel was sent to Sweden. It arrived there opened, minus the birthday gift. Since we had no proof of sending the item, we were essentially told to piss off by the "Royal" Mail.

As far as I am concerned, this is far too many things happening in too short a time for them all to be one-off cock-ups. The service in and around London is shite. And our local MP's have stuck their oar in as well due to the massive number of complaints that they're getting.

Are there any decent games out this Friday where pre-orders are gonna be delayed? I don't think I've got any ordered.

Final Fantasy Tactics. Just my blooming luck. Been looking forward to that for ages. Now I've got to wait an extra week!

Also, done the lost mail claim for Jeanne d'Arc so either they won't receive the form in time (unlikely as I sent it last Tuesday) or the package will get stuck in the system.

    Thank goodness for Rogue Galaxy.

/Wonders what the reaction would be if this happened on Halo 3 week

Oh, and the latest details here:

    Royal Mail

    I'll start the guesswork:

Eurogamer - 60 threads saying the same sort of thing as this title. Everyone else will be saying "Not another Royal Mail thread...".

Yeah and the stockpile of mail will take ages to clear and a lot of it'll get lost no doubt!.

If my Phantom Hourglass comes after the EU release, I'll kill myself live on EG!.

I'll be down the postal depot on Wednesday morning to pick up a parcel.
Guess I'd better ask them if they are joining in the strikes too, as I have a fair bit of stuff on order from various places around t'internet.

Annoying I guess, but videogames and anime figures are hardly critical for me to get by every day, so as long as they dont loose the damn things under the weeks-worth of built-up mail I wont really care that much.

The only time anything has ever gone AWOL in the post at Xmas, for us, has been stuff from Play.

    Coinkydink? Probably.

Well it doesn't help that the stupid cunts practically advertise the fact that there are PLAY goodies inside by whacking a sodding great big PLAY ad on the outside of the PLAY envelope

Might as well just change it to "PLAY ME POSTIE! YOUR KIDS WILL LOVE YOU!"

Got an e-mail from future publishing today informing me that due to the strikes..

you may find your monthly subscription copy delayed by several weeks.

several weeks? seriously? what on earth are Royal Mail playing at. I'm still waiting for tons of post to arrive and the post man just pretty much skips our entire street out. Last time I heard they tried to ballot about a strike, but due to strikes the ballot cards didn't turn up in time. But 'several weeks' delay?

    /face palms.

The sooner publishers adopt pdf and e-readers the better.

Royail mail can suck my left nut, delivering to work is spot on, he's never late and always polite, however the personal home deliveries are getting rediculous. Sometimes im not getting post till 2pm! How the hell is someone going to sign for that when no fucker is in at that time, i think they should just do their rounds at 5pm when everyone's home from work.

Everytime i go to the depot with one of those red cards, the que is always out the door.
