The complaints about it not being as good as it was, aren't as good as they were.

Its very handy that theres a camera in place for the funny moments like Clarkson scraping the car!

I see what you mean :D

Oh wow, another close one! The researchers are good picking close tasks, I guess that's the idea after all...

Was it that close? They didn't actually say and I got the impression James might have been there a while...

Not an amazing one, but better than anything else on tv.

The "get a load of guests round to do a lap in the new car while we pretend to entertain them" bit wasn't all that funny the first time they did it either, but the race was good.

It's a bit ridiculous that I can get Top Gear faster via Pirate Bay than via iPlayer. Do the BBC ever give any reason for certain shows taking ages to show up?

I guess it depends how much other stuff they have to get up. Lots of Wimbledon ATM.

Although Top Gear is pre-recorded, so you'd think they could do it beforehand.

They had shows that were on after it online when I looked. I'm guessing there's a legal reason... but it seems a bit crazy.

Probably due to some black out deal with BBC America. Or probably in the same reason box as to why Sundays MOTD is uploaded but Saturdays isn't.

Changing the sound of your car via the dash menu on that new Clio is probably the dumbest feature i've ever seen on a car. I'd feel thoroughly ashamed of myself if I actually used that.

I think the new Golf GTD has that, adding a gurgling note to mask the diesel

Ive heard the clio noise induction thing and it is really cool. I chose the same one a hammond too!

But, yeah, that was a good package. I love hot hatches and it was a lot better 'test' than when they filled them with dogs in italy.

You guys realise that "changing the sound" of the car is just piping a different noise through the stereo right? If they could actually change the noise people heard it would be genuinely clever. :)

@LeoliansBro I think putting an actual physical exhaust system is a bit different to piping it through some speakers. The fake engine noise on the M5 is just as bad.

Yeah. Doesnt stop it from being cool, though.

It might actually be the most un-coolest thing ever, IMHO.

Yeah, I don't approve of this nonsense.

Yeah, I believe they fit them to all the top cars these days. Most informed buyers wont touch a model unless it has artificial engine note generation.
  • Deleted user 1 July 2013 12:39:03
There's no market for cheap car modifications. I can't see it taking off.
  • Deleted user 1 July 2013 12:42:10
I can make my car sound like a 1970s mini.
