Yes it is! So is the amount of contents. It's actually a very cheap game when you consider the amount of it

There certainly is a lot in there...

Spent the evening merrily popping cardboard. Have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. The component quality is a lot better than it looked in most videos I've seen.

The standee art is particularly nice.

Probably should have sorted out some storage before doing all this though :/

Picked up Whitehall at the weekend and played a few games with Mrs Fuzz. Was loads of fun, first secret movement type game I've ever played. Will definitely look at getting others.
The Narcos game is supposed to one of the best hidden movement* games. Was suspicious it would just be a cash-in, but it's got top reviews.

*Key aspect is that Pablo doesn't move which makes it more tense.
Oh that sounds interesting. Will check it out! Cheers.

Am I the only one who would appreciate some mobile friendly formatted manuals? I know there are a bunch of interactive guides and stuff on the way, but I would just like the bog standard manual, readable on a phone without the usual zooming in and out of pdfs.

    Gloomhaven Observation 2:

I'm not entirely sure what all the fuss is about re: organisation of all the content. There's a lot of stuff, sure, but it all seems easy enough to baggy up and access.

70 odd quid for something to organise it all seems massively unnecessary.

Not sure about mobile friendly rules, but I would highly recommend paying a visit to

    https://www.orderofgamers.com/games/

They do an awesome job of updating rulebooks to look and read so much better

@StarchildHypocrethes I got some plano boxes/trays which probably cost about a tenner in total, which are enough to make it workable. Little snap-shut things from Home Bargains for the smaller tokens etc, and a Really Useful Box partitioned tray for the monsters, which unfortunately doesn’t fit back in the box but sits comfortably enough atop it.

    Circle undone shipped hype!

@Starchild. If you can save 70 quid thats great! I like my 50 quid organiser though. After setting it up and tearing it down 20+ times you might feel differently.

Spent last night doing a test run of the first scenario ahead of us getting stuck in at the weekend.

Yeah, ok. This is pretty good.

It's taking forever though, as my poor brain is struggling to cope with the amount of decision making required.

    YES

It's a genius game. If you can share around the upkeep between you nicely and stick with it, you'll get faster at the decision making but it never stops being rewarding.

It's a really special achievement for board gaming IMO.

Will be two of us to start with, maybe a third if we can convince another friend.

The card mechanic is indeed genius.

My only gripe really is the dodgy minis and the campaign structure. The lack of narrative response to failure, just start it again, is a bit disappointing for a legacy game.

Still though, this gon be gud.

Cheers for the Orderofgamers.com tip. I watched their (his?) "How to get started with foam core" tutorials since I've been annoyed by how messy some of my games look when I pop the lid off.

I'm still not sure that foam core alone would do the job since I want to be able to store my games on their sides. Loose tokens in foam core would wander. On the other hand it's tempting to have them like that to minimise set up.

I got the stock resupply email for Gloomhaven from Chaos Cards yesterday evening, but didn't see it until this morning. Unsurprisingly, it was already out of stock.

I'll try again for the 5th reprint :p

    @StarchildHypocrethes

Mate you have so much fun and goodness ahead of you! I adore the game.

2 should be nice and quick, that's how I play most of my games. It actually plays surprisingly quickly once you get the AI control down after a couple of games too.

3 is fine, I think with 4 players it's possibly a bit too much. You'd need to talk about your turns a hell of a lot before and could bog the game down a bit.

I lost my weekly game of Gaia Project by miles last night. having been 1st or 2nd every time previously I was quite disappointed.

Played it 21 times now and I do love it but still think Terra Mystica is the superior game. Probably even more so now.

with 2 players it's Gaia Project
    3 players it's a toss up
4 - 5 I'd pick Terra Mystica every single time.

Looks like Castles of Burgundy is getting the deluxe treatment later in the year then. Between this and Suburbia it looks like after just a couple years in the hobby I'm already rebuying my collection!

Last night I managed to finish off my first ever PnP project.

I've wanted the expansion to Clash of Cultures for ages, only for Z-Man to confirm earlier in the year that it would never be getting a reprint.

Managed to find pdfs of most of the files on BGG and a link to a shop that sold all the plastic bits. Got my arts & crafts on following that and smashed it all out.

Really chuffed with the results too. Looks pretty much indistinguishable from the main game.

I should get a Blue Peter badge for this.
