Anyone in for jaws of the lion? Unsurprisingly itís creating some excitement and certainly seems an affordable entry point to the franchise.
I canít quite find when itís being released, but itís obviously due. I wonder whether the us target exclusive is holding anything else up?
managed to order two online from target last week (one for a friend). I have a us postal box through the Irish postal services, costs about Ä15-Ä20 for postage from the states which is pretty good, hoping to have it sometime next week. I mainly play solo, so fairly exicited for this , dig the small form factor as original gloomhaven is just too big and daunting for me

Having comprehensively beaten my wife 5 times in a row at Wingspan there does appear to be some skill to it. Even if it does seem very minor to me.

Unfortunately with this run of wins it does now look unlikely that she will play it again.

In light of the story on the front page about wonderful 101 backers having been charged import taxes.
Is this a thing for ks board games from abroad then? I assumed Kickstarter shipping fees (high in themselves) and the way these are only distributed this way would somehow be included in this?
Naive perhaps? Or no reason to worry?

@ChiefGB most Kickstarter campaign are EU friendly (etc) meaning no tax.

They put labels on the campaigns that show which regions will be import tax free.

Look at the little badges on the top graphic of this excellent card game as an example.

    I'm a proud backer.

It's gotten enough to reach the "hang behind your glasses" 3D glasses level now, so I actually have no reason to pimp it.

Still, would want you lot to miss out on this awesome future classic.

Stuck a preorder in for Jaws of the Lion.

Iíve got Gloomhaven, but the sheer dread I get thinking about setting it up means I never play it. This looks much more likely to actually get played. The linkable map books are ingenious.

Anyone else backing Intrepid on KS? Looks like a neat puzzly asymmetric co-op, with a load of dice manipulation (and stress).

Itís by Jeff Beck (not that one - the Burgle Bros co-designer). Iím not particularly in love with the art style, though I appreciate thatís a wholly subjective issue. As long as the graphic design is clean (which it looks like it will be), happy days.

Also, in other good news, I could change the delivery address of my Ride the Rails copy, so it's on its way to me at my vacation place. Will play it with my brother.

There's a decent deal on the BGG hot deals page at the moment for Undaunted. I got Normandy and North Africa for 30 quid plus postage. Just turned up today.

I hate living in Melbourne. Wish I'd moved out to the country years ago. :(

I've just had a sudden spending spree out of no where. Haven't bought anything in a while and sold quite a lot during lockdown

    Pipeline
    Underwater Cities + Expansion
    Anachrony
    Cooper Island

All on their way! (well Cooper I'm waiting for restock).

Still quite tempted to buy Crystal Palace as well but... It felt weird after my first play. I love how aggressive it is and the dice placement is really clever. It seemed like some features were just not well implemented. Like that buzz track - wtf is the point in it? Why would you have a race / track in a game that is almost net zero gain going for it? I do not understand that.

It's very frustrating because I wanted to love it - theme is great / aggressive interaction is great / art is great / core mechanics great.... it just had some weird things that slightly ruined it.

    Thanks Greg!

@Mola_Ram I have loved living here the past 5 years, definitely not ideal at the moment. As originally from Adelaide then living in London for 14 years I always thought Melbourne was the best middle ground for moving back to bring up the kids. Lots of board game groups too ;)

I'm more of a country person myself, I think I'd much prefer Adelaide as a place to live. Hell, even Hobart or something.

I do like the board game groups, though. Most of them now online lol

    :/

@BearFishPie I'll let you know how they are. Cooper Island has been recommended to me by too many people to ignore now, but I don't know much about it either.

Underwater Cities I think is just a better T Mars. Loads of people love it.

    @BearFishPie

Well I've played Anachrony twice now and it looks like a keeper. Really enjoyed it.

Very clever, thematic euro worker placement game that also has some engine building and the most innovative twist on the loan mechanism I've seen yet. You can borrow resources from the future but as the timeline progresses (phases of the game), if you leave those resources not paid off there is a chance of triggering a paradox and eventually an anomaly (negative VP and can break your buildings which form your engine).

In order to pay off the resources you need to build power stations (one of the 4 building types) which allow you to travel back in time to give the resources back and fix the space time continuum.

This whole mechanism is encouraged to be used as can net you alot of victory points and can be baked into your engine if you build the right buildings.

SO nerdy and SO good. it's amazing it's a solid Euro with this much theme.
