I wonder what happened wrt the tie in. Paradox were in on it from what it looked like. Maybe the gameplay just deviated too much from the video game. Maybe the Crusader Kings was a big fat fiasco and everyone got cold feet? |

Registered 14 years agoI was curious in the expansion but seeing the direction they've taken I'm more likely to be out. Four chapters linked by a story but having different gameplay attached to it, no thanks. Especially if one is one vs many, I loathe that. -

Also our game sessions tend to be focused around nap time otherwise chaos occurs.
Dunes arrived, with the Jessica of arrakis card. Which is nice as I hear it’s pretty powerful. -

I punched out the stuff for Dwellings of Eldervale today as well but it was depressing because the box is the same for each version and emphasises what you don’t have 😢

I assume the card is additional, I don’t think it replaces any but I think I saw she has more than one card judging from the rule book. I don’t know anything about dune really (saw the film once many moons ago) so I’m guessing there’s a thematic reason for it.
I have been looking forward to seeing the villeneuve movies though, and I’ve considered grabbing the first book this week but I don’t really read anymore.
Maybe I should just watch the movie again as it’s on prime but leaving soon. -

Registered 4 years agoNo hands on experience but I know someone who rapidly sold it on after declaring it the biggest load of shit he'd ever played, and that there was way too much tedious and boring gameplay to get to the only good bits (the puzzles). I think SU&SD gave it a drubbing too. But 8.2 on BGG as well. -

It’s.... very faithful to the original story. But the acting is so bad! -

Registered 6 years agoScores on BGG sadly mean less and less these days, which is a shame. I guess it is a combination of the cult of the new shiny and also, sadly, the use of less than truthful reviews by publishers to drive sales 
Etherfields looks like it couldn’t be further away from games that I prefer these days. Disjointed, full of minis, cooperative, overpriced. No thanks 😊 -
