My local store has the complete Cloudspire in, and even though I generally buy everything going, for some reason I just have zero interest in it. Might be because I bounced hard off the last couple of CTG games Iíve played (Hoplomachus and Triplock), and Iím ambivalent on TMB, but I just canít muster any enthusiasm.

No big loss either way, itís not like I donít have plenty else to play.
I didn't like Triplock or Hoplo either, but TMB and Cloudspire are 2 amazing games.

I gotta admit, when I first heard about it I thought "WTF...", then when I saw it in action I couldn't help but think that actually... that looks rather ... I don't know how to put it.

I kind of want to be the person that plays games where it's a great idea to have a massive pair of tweezers to move stacks of chits around.

I have nothing but respect for people with chit tweezers.

    @Tonka

I have chit tweezers! After getting a hex and counter wargame I realised that they are pretty much essential for moving stacks around or lifting tokens to see what is underneath. Without them any hex and counter game is going to be extremely fiddly. I don't yet have a counter clipper. Yet...

We should make a grognard thread, but it might just be me, Starchild and rice in there.

Closest I've gotten is Cuba Libre. Can't remember any stacks of counters though.

Big delivery of Arkham Horror stuff yesterday, completed my collection of available packs, so 3 packs I canít use (2 innsmouth, 1 carcosa expansion), the 5 character packs and the Labyrinth of Lunacy scenario.

The 3 packs I canít use, but have bought for when the rest of the campaigns are available. I genuinely hate this out of stock stuff. Why the hell donít they do a deluxe £100 set of an entire campaign? It is ludicrous how hard it is to make a full set. I have 5 carcosa packs to buy, and the Innsmouth expansion and 3 packs and then have the full set. (Apart from the small scenario packs) I just hate all these packs sitting there I canít play...

Anyway enough moaning, I did the 3 Labyrinth scenarios today, using the 5 character packs, I LOVED them. Really interesting the way they worked, I am amaze how I now have 37 characters for this game and every single ones feels unique, it really is astounding. The scenario though I was less keen on. Very very repetitive, first was fun, I won, but then the next two were pretty uninspired. It was okay, but not worth the money.

I actually had more fun sorting the cards. Got my fourth one of these delivered https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07XWM246F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 so now have all my cards sorted in order etc. Was very therapeutic and rewarding.

Not to replay either circle undone or dunwich tomorrow... which one? And which characters....

Iíll join the grognard thread. I used to paint little napoleonic soldiers and everything. Even making sure they had the correct uniforms. Is that enough to gain membership?

Oh I think that's the one that can be played by multiple groups right? I've heard it's not very fun unless you play it that way. I have it somewhere, not tried it!

It is fun once. But the gimmick repeats and loses the fun.

Also make sure you go in blind.

Isn't there a whole mechanism of passing messages to the other group that you miss playing on your own tho?

In other news, Kingdomino has gone down a treat with my daughter! It's a great little game

1500 odd counters for SPQR now clipped.

    My hand hurts.

I also feel dirty, like a bit of a deviant.

What's the best game I could buy for tactical war gaming fun where I could make use of a pair of those tweezers?

Depends on what theme you're after really.

If you're looking for some classic WW2 action though, Combat Commander is a perfect first step for anyone. J'adore le Combat Comander.

The best tactical game is downloading a bunch of rulebooks and buying a game that you actually understand how to play and can teach to someone else.

Arkham Horror Card Game collectors in the UK... has anyone had the Lair of Dagon pack from the latest cycle?

I've had the one after (Into the Maelstrom) from BGExtras and they said they haven't had the previous one sent. Boardgameprices shows a sea of "Pre-order" for UK retailers, so I assume this is affecting all UK stores, but thought I would check here.
