Dune Imperium is back in stock across the UK - my pre-order has shipped from Zatu.

For those collecting Arkham Horror Card Game, Return to the Circle Undone is up for pre-order in a few places. BGExtras has it at £21.50 (plus postage).

    @Anhunedd nice one thanks!

First time a Return to box has come out and I've not played the original campaign yet :(

On the Arkham side theludoquist has quite a few hard to get packs in, I finally managed to complete Carcosa and pick up the standalone packs of Excelsior Hotel as well.

Just the blob that ate everything and a few Innsmouth to go and I will be done.

I've been playing with my copy of Oath (Solo four p multihand) and have some early impressions to share:
    * The production is spectacular. I worried that the neoprene mat would remind me too much of a mousepad. That was unfounded. The resin upgrade pieces are amazing but the metal coins aren't for me. I think I have a nickel allergy.
    * Set-up and teardown are very fast. The insert is the best I've seen.
    * The tutorial is well done and rather clever. Oath is such a sprawling game that one of the main things I struggled with was what to do. After one round of the tutorial all players have been given some direction.

The biggest take away is that open endedness. IT's easy to just stumble around without much of a clue. But once someone goes for a win the game becomes supercool. How do we stop Yellow from winning with the Banenr of the Darkest Secret? Can anyone get 4 secrets in one turn and snatch it away from them? Has anyone got enough troops to challenge them in a campaign? Or is there a card somewhere that will change the landscape radically?

I've had really puzzly situations where two players working together could stop a third from winning, only to then end up in an internal powerstruggle, but at least the crown (or Scepter in Oaths case) would still be up for grabs.

I'm really looking forward to play it with my group. I' very curious to see what stories that will emerge.

Got my copy of Oath on Monday and I've had a little play with it - wow is it a puzzle! I've got a pretty good idea of how to play after watching some rules teach vids on youtube, but man, the amount of options is mind-blowing. It's very easy to use all your actions doing next-to-nothing!

Had a quick go with the Clockwork Prince yesterday and it's another puzzle altogether. I'd recommend getting a good grasp on the key concepts and victory conditions before give him a go.

Just a quick question regarding this topic, I got my eyes on 2 board games, "The thing" and "Tiny zombies", any of you have any experience regarding them that you can share?

The Thing is considered to be good, while the Tiny Epic Series is generally seen as a novelty line.

I swerved away from zombies; the rules are a bit fussy so sayeth the BGG.

    Pirates is next week though....!

Finally getting into Machi Koro and receiving my copy of the Quacks of Quedlingberg Big Box has made me have an opinion on box size. Which I guess is the next step on being a board game person.

Hate the Machi Koro box so much, it's this huge cardboard cavern for a deck of cards, two dice and some plastic coins. I just grumble each time I open the box, to the point I'm genuinely considering buying the German edition from Amazon which comes in a box a third the size

The Quacks box, for such a light and breezy game,is just an abomination. As demonstrated here. I genuinely am loathe to bring it to the table, because it's such a faff. It's a breezy game, perfect to take around to people's houses/gardens for quick fifteen minute games. The box makes no sense.

To be fair, it's providing excellent structural stability to the left hand side of your "slightly" overstuffed top shelf...

Yep, I hate big empty boxes. I blame the sleevers. Every Kickstarter they start their sniveling about "Will the tray fit sleeved cards?"

Good old Fantasy Flight and their “here’s a fairly large box, and inside, two decks of cards” packaging.

@Anhunedd Yeah, I need to stop purchasing new stuff. Otherwise that shelf is going to implode.

Ia was eying up quacks, that box is daft though. Talk about taking it literally.

It's got room for expansions, but it's still unnecessary. Garphill Games know how to do a box that's for sure.

I saw some pictures of a hilarious counterfeit ROOT on Twitter. They had made new art for it and it was charmingly ugly.

Seems the original tweet with half decent piccs of it got deleted. Here are some screengrabs though.

To be perfectly honest, I quite like the look of that super fake Root. If I ever see it I'll probably snatch it up.

If anyone's interested I took a punt on this seemingly mistakenly named product on Amazon last week when it was £20, and it turned up the other day as a completely legit copy of Through the Ages.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071CZT9D9?psc=1&tag=article-geekdo-21

Still not bad at £26, around £20 cheaper than usual.

Sweet Jesus that's so bad it's good.

If it's an concillation (which it won't be) the £15 copy was from Amazon not one of their Marketplace sellers. Not that that makes it immune to fakery judging by the copies of Pandemic they send out.

The issue with Amazon is they don’t separate stock. So if a reseller sells an item it’s kept in the same stockpile as Amazon’s own stock.

It'll be fake. I ordered Root from amazon last year in desperation to get a copy. Think I paid £50? Ish for it. The quality of components was actually pretty good, very close to the real thing except the tokens were a bit flakey and the player board were literally a print out stuck (poorly) to some cardboard.

I got a refund and ended up giving the copy away to a friend who likes the game but would never buy it.

Never buy board games from amazon.
