Hey you guys wouldn't be talking about Chris Stuckmann by any chance? Chris Stuckmann the renowned film critic and legendary swordsman?

Really good. I tried to watch it years ago but the copy I had was without subtitles. Its on Netflix now and I finally got around to it tonight. Really good film.

Watching Marauders now, which is rated much lower, but I'm only five mins in.
The last few minutes are the most affecting acting I’ve ever seen
Yeah, when he's in shock and being checked by the medic. It's a really good performance but then Hanks is a great 'everyman' actor.
Tom Hanks really was in shock when they filmed that scene. That's how good he is.
Had he just seen the price of technogel pillows?

Smashed through some of this year's Oscar nominees/winners on the plane today...

    Shape of Water - 10/10

    Luscious, whimsical, brutal. Loved it.

    Lady Bird - 7/10

It's good. Felt like it treaded old ground a bit, but it's well-written, acted, made etc.

    Three Billboards - 7/10

Good again, but overrated imo. I didn't really buy into some of the character arcs – Sam Rockwell's character especially (surprised he got an Oscar tbh, seen him do that role before, albeit less racist).

    Thor Ragnarok 6/10

Not as hip or cool as it thinks it is. Plus I learnt Asgard only has a population of about 50

    Not after Infinity War.

    The Ritual - 7/10

Decent British horror film which follows some LADS as they go trekking through a forest in Sweden. Not what I expected...

    Mission Impossible: Fallout

Watched this in some 4d thing in Milton Keynes. Movie was reasonable, a decent action romp that was a bit too predictable. (Honestly, every scene, every double cross etc was extremely obvious.)

Saying that, it was decent fun and passed a couple of hours. Some rather good action scenes as well. Although some parts really looked CGI, in particular the car chases.

    8/10

On the 4d thing. I am fairly mixed. It was rather cool being "punched" in the back as the actor was, feeling the bullets whizz past and having the seat shake and rock. But it is also rather distracting. Probably worth trying, but a gimmick rather than something that really adds to the experience.

    Mamma Mia 2 6/10

Went along to keep the missus happy. Wasn't too bad and there's a few good one liners in there.

Couldn't help laughing at Cher saying 'Turn that frown upside down'

@RyanDS I watched Logan in 4D. Seeing as the film is about him receiving a non-stop pummeling, it maybe wasn't the best film to try it, but fuck I hated it. I seem to recall a fight scene in the rain that made me question why I paid a premium to have someone shake and spit on me while I tried to watch the movie.

    Donnie Darko - 9/10

Still love it. Slightly less now I've discovered the full-fat weirdo version in David Lynch, but it's an excellent movie and the soundtrack is inspired.

I remember reading an interview with Ian McCulloch who was asked about killing moon blowing up in DD, which he answered with something like 'yeah, and then the director replaced it with INXS for the director's cut. I guess some people are just knobheads'.

Hang on, Chris Stuckmann said this was the greatest action movie ever and you only give it 8/10?!

    Mi: fallout 9/10

The double crosses were predictable but at the same time the film was done so well that I didn't care much. Action is some of the best I remember in recent years.

IT. 5/10. Meh. No chemistry between the kids. Pennywise was OK I thought. Preferred Tim Curry but at least he tried to do it differently. Was generally a bit bored by it all though.

Annoyingly can't find the previous 2 MI films on any of the legal streaming services :/

Keen to see MI6 based on the amazing reviews, but I've yet to watch 5 and can barely remember 4.

Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation were both on Film4 in the last few days.

They're showing Train To Busan this week.

    Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Solid performances all round. Has that same well made feel as Farge, which also starred Frances McDormand. Maybe not as great as anticipated, but still good film worth a watch.

    7.6/10

    MI Fallout - 9/10

Almost as good as hyped. As usual it's a setpiece machine, some are outstanding, a couple are pedestrian, all in the last third are best in class. Movie stars are less prominent than franchises these days but Tom Cruise gives a proper star performance.

@Decks is there one word that means 'not recommended' though?

Something that means 'strongly not recommended' in just the one word would be even better
