Registered 10 years agoI saw fallout the other night, thought it was alright. It starts off well enough but it's far too long and the last third feels like it goes in forever, it's all just stretched out a bit too thin. -

Watched the TV series on iplayer and this reimagining amps everything up high. Faster paced more chaotic and slightly more confused plot wise it's still a stone cold classic and sci-fi horror in the most British way

Fun with a high concentration of laughs in the first half, but kinda runs out of steam. Jason Bateman is as watchable as ever, but Rachel McAdams is almost entirely wasted.

The Mountain Between Us
The wife and I love a good survival drama, and this was nothing like a good survival drama.
Can only imagine Idris Elba and Kate Winslet signed up for this without reading the script. Either that or they thought it was a romantic comedy - so laughable was the plot.
30/100
Mission:Impossible - Fallout
Some of the best action of the series with car chases to rival Ronin and helicopter scenes that would sit easily in a Bond movie (all in the trailer). I'm sure it's no great spoiler to say that Tom Cruise gets to run very fast.
This is perhaps the first Mission movie where it's more obvious that Tom's stunt team is doing much of the action. I guess that's either because Tom's getting on a bit, or they're really pushing the envelope. Either way, it's not as seamless as before.
This one felt much more serious with far fewer lighter moments. Could have done with 50% more gags and 25% less running time.

Was alright. Decent exploration of how vapid social media is and Aubrey Plaza is as Aubrey Plaza as usual. Pretty much every character is a cunt which I guess is sort of point but it does become irritating.

More likely he comes up with a running scenario and then they build a movie around it. -

I kind of hoped it would dissolve into murder. Denzel's son Lil' Cube is the only decent human, he seem's to have inherited his father's charisma. -

Registered 18 years agoAlso rented the new Tomb Raider.
Alicia Vikakderjaks is very watchable. I guess it had to be an origin type tale but gosh she took to jungle marauding and murdering henchmen with ease.
Good characters let down by a pretty weak story. 7/10. -

Registered 17 years agoI was reading a Facebook rant from James Gunn after the stuntman awards a few years and he was tearing into Cruise and the myth that he does all his own stunts. Sure, he does a fair chuck of them but there is also a lot of stuntmen and clever CGI too.
Looking forward to seeing the new Mission Impossible film. Apparently Henry Cavill is very good. As always when he appears in this kind of film, there’s talk of him playing Bond. Hmm...I’ve seen him interviews and I do think he could possibly do it. If they lightened the tone and made them more fun, he may be good fit.
On a side note, is Isle of Dogs worth a watch? -

Oh is that Ice Cubes son? I thought he looked a lot like Ice Cube but I wasn't sure if my brain was just doing a racist.

I thought Cavill was excellent. He was carrying his Superman bulk and did a great impression of someone capable of dishing out a hellacious beating.

Registered 14 years agoI watched Free Fire over the weekend. It involved far more crawling than I had expected, and made a very convincing argument for not getting shot. For a fairly short film it seemed to drag on a bit.

He's also in that Greek gods thing with Mickey Rourke, showing a similar range of 'confused' to 'eaten a 12 egg omlette'.

Oh, and the man from uncle.
Yeah, he's a charisma vacuum in everything. -

Purposefully painful to watch in some parts and there is only so much cringe I can take. Worth a watch if this format is your sort of thing. -

It's a visual masterpiece but it's mid-tier Wes Anderson, lacks the heart of something like Rushmore. -
