A nice doco about the famous musician/composer. Worth a look if you're interested in the creativity and joy that goes into making music. His enthusiasm is absolutely infectious.

Registered 18 years agoI always felt Sakamoto's genius was interpretive and filled with infinite possibilities, like it's trying to make more than a musical point.
However I found his later work to be the very definition of musical declension.
Can I ask, are you familiar with the Film A Ghost Story? -

Registered 9 years agoYeah, I am. It's great. It all makes sense if you really think about the pie-eating scene. -

Registered 9 years agoOh yes. The one with farts in it. It must be good, since it's received more reviews over the last couple of pages than movies that actually exist. -

Plus I had a new way of delivering the punchline.
I feel like we have all lost something today. -

Registered 9 years agoWith further apologies for interrupting the "regurgitate a shit joke you heard" thread, here is another movie wot I saw. Maybe nobody cares, but maybe someone will! And writing about them helps me remember them.
So...
The Great Buddha+
A Taiwanese black comedy about a couple of nobodies who decide to start watching the dashboard camera of their boss's Mercedes. There's loads of smart breaking the fourth wall moments, and in general it's just a really interesting portrait of class divisions in Taiwanese society.

Registered 9 years agoSo yes, anyway, I am now going to see SEVEN NIC CAGE MOVIES IN A ROW:
Mandy (his new one)
Raising Arizona
Red Rock West
Vampire's Kiss
Drive Angry
The Wicker Man
Con Air
I have seen three of them before. But STAY TUNED for reviews of all of the ones that I can stay awake for, and you too can find out what it's like to see The Wicker Man while extremely sleep-deprived! (it will probably still be a bit rubbish) -

Imagine if Nicholas Cages's acting career hadn't taken off but he was still in love with the art so he took any job he could just to be involved with the industry in some way so he started out just cleaning the toilets in a theater but gradually worked his way up to help with the lights and the props and stuff. You could call him Nicholas Backstage.
