Whoa. I had genuinely never heard of the "Triplets of Belville". From the trailer, it looks great.

Where did you find it? Doesn't seem to be on Netflix or Amazon UK?
It's not on streaming, as far as I can tell. I saw it because a housemate heard that I liked animated movies, brought the DVD home from a library and told me to watch it. I'd heard about it before, but wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was.

    Fantastic music too.

I am a massive pseud, so it should be right up my street. 😜

Will keep an eye out for it.

I'm probably just easily pleased (I am), but I loved the way they animated the cyclists. And the mafia guys. Never got old (or at least it didn't get old in the 80 minutes of the movie).

Fair enough. I apologise. I just got a bit too enthusiastic and forgot where I was posting. :p

Just to be a touch pseudy myself, I hadn't realised what you were talking about until you mentioned the cyclists, at which point I recognised it by its proper title 'Belleville Rendez-vous', which I saw in an independent cinema on release.

I find independent cinemas to be a little mainstream these days. I hired a group of unemployed Parisian actors to act out the film for me in an abandoned theater.

    Is there much cycling?

Asking for a friend who likes a cycling boardgame so much he's started watching documentaries about famous cycling races.

In a way, it's pretty much the focal point of the movie, yes.

Deadpool and DP2 are basically two halves of one movie, what's going on? Do a few people get a personality transplant at some point between watching them? It's a very strange phenomenon
It's been a while since I watched DP1, all I remember was it started out quite fresh, and I laughed a fair bit, then the final third, or perhaps quarter, became predictable and tedious. So yeah, they would gel together quite well I reckon:)

We were wondering last night reading some raving reviews online - is it a case of poor taste, or they just haven't watched (m)any quality movies before (possibly indicating those 10/10 ratings were from kids predominantly).

Anyways, it's a Marvel film and not really significant in the greater scheme of things (other than it being successful means more shit like that gets released); I'm just a bit annoyed that I spent actual money on it rather than just waste an hour (we didn't finish it) of our free time, instead of waiting for it to show on Netflix instead.

I'm a bit similar in regards to music. I find listening to an album to be just what the record companies want you to do. I pay tramps to act out the message of the songs via the medium of contemporary dance.

@KnuttinAtoll Oh it's definitely not a great film that's for sure. I just struggle to see much of a difference between them

Although I'm a bad judge as I didn't see too much difference between the 2 Kingsman movies and everyone loved the first and hated the second. The sequel did seem to scream cash-in / franchise / please adopt me US of A though

That's some pretty patronising stuff there. Sometimes you're in the mood for something silly. Sometimes you want something a bit more cerebral.

Don't get me wrong I absolutely appreciate the odd silly movie but this particular one was (imo, obvs) just really poor on all aspects; can't think of a single redeeming factor that would make me recommend watching it, even just for one scene. Pretty sure I'd have gotten more entertainment out of re-watching the first one again to be honest.

    Hereditary - 8/10

I want to watch it again to find all the clues leading up to the last twenty minutes, but the movies atmosphere is so oppressive I'm not sure I can face it.
