I love Ghibli but I hear you on some lacking a full ending.

I'd say Arrietty is my personal choice for biggest anticlimax but in general these films are more about the journey than the destination.

A few of them barely have plots at all beyond letting a beautiful world meander by

There a nice gentle Studio Ghibli podcast commissioned by Film 4 called Ghibilotheque which i have enjoyed listening too. They're only 30 minutes long each and they go through each film (one per episode) and just casually talk about it and what they enjoyed or disliked about them. Recommended. I haven't been binged the episodes, just listened to the podcasts of the films i have seen. The rest i am watching (At a really slow pace) and then listen to its corresponding episode afterwards. But if you like Ghibli i think you will get enjoyment out of the podcasts.

Personally my favourites are Porco Rosso, Laputa, and Cogliostro. i guess i like bouncy adventure films. Although i really like the subtle films like Only yesterday.

Aside from spirited away, all the populars ones have never wholly clicked with me, i enjoyed them a lot but i don't enjoy them as much s the ones i listed above. Still looking for that connection with films like Totoro and Monokoe.

Star Wars : A New Hope, with live orchestral soundtrack. 10/10

Forget IMAX, 3D or 4DX novelties, seeing a film with such an iconic OST being performed live as the film accompanied it is the future. I do not think I have been as exilerated (SP?!) watching this since I was seven. The end credits was a sheer joy with a well deserved standing ovation. They are doing the same thing with Back to the Future next year. I really want to go.

That would be fantastic to see. Slightly jealous!. I have only seen one film with live accompanying music and that was Mogwai with the Zidane film which was really good.

Loved Green Room. Found it incredibly tense and it was brutal enough to keep you dreading what could happen next. And Jean Luc Picard makes a good Nazi.

For the full experience BttF would need an orchestra and Huey Lewis

    Ralph Breaks the Internet 6/10

Ok with a few amusing parts but didn't care a great deal for it in the end. The Vanellope character really annoys me.

Blue Ruin by the same director is well worth a watch, especially if you like revenge films.

I was disappointed to discover he didnít continue the colours theme in his titles. Missed opportunity.

Murder Party is supposed to be good too but Iíve never tracked it down.

    Suspiria (1977) - 8/10

Horribly dated in places, but also really effective in other parts. Builds to a nice and bonkers crescendo. Soundtrack is amazing.

    Hardcore Henry

Basically your average FPS in movie format. Throughout the film I kept thinking this could be a game judging from the set pieces and lame story.

Still, some very interesting camera work (although I got bored of the constant action and at times absurd levels of violence about half way through) so kudos for that. Interesting to watch once but don't think I'd want to see another movie like this again.

    5/10

My wife, with the best intentions, bought me the UHD for my birthday last month. Lovely present but one I can only use once a year at christmas so it's sitting there still unopened and unloved just waiting for a couple more weeks :)
Well, this isnít going to help...itís glorious in HDR! Glorious! Theyíve not gone DNR crazy either. Going to the cinema to see this on Xmas Eve. May go before as itís on from 7th.

My favourite film of all time. Just got the 3CD soundtrack from the states and thereís the Complete Visual History which Iím getting as a birthday present.

    Welcome to the party pal!!!

    Bridge of Spies 7/10

I was not bored but sometimes it loses its magic and you are painfully aware that it is just actors going through their lines.

Anyway, it is on ze Netflix of olde
