My dad used to have a corporate ticket at St James and he got into a lift we were in once. My dad asked how he thought the match went and he recited the interview we'd just watched him give on the TV. He also smelled faintly of piss. I was hoping for a hug but it didn't come.

Smelling of piss isn't surprising tbh.

Shoplifters. The latest Koreeda film is perhaps his best. Delicate direction and fine performances all around make it a family drama that punches well above its weight. Not a feel good family film at all but still recommended. 9/10.

I met Bobby Robson a couple of times. He even called me the wrong name. I almost wept. I did when he died. I will never forgive Newcastle for sacking him

I sometimes wonder what old Bobby would make of Mourinho these days. He absolutely adored the guy.

Had the pleasure of meeting Bobby Robson at a charity do once. He was surprisingly down to earth, and VERY funny.

    Hangman (Netflix)
Another stinker chosen by the wife*, actually it was just about passable.
It is such a shame that having Al Picino in your films is no longer a sign of quality, see also Bobby (I think that it was he likes to be called, just in case he reads ;) )DeNiro.
Anyway the film is about cops trying to catch a serial killer.
    40%

Her previous attempt was the woeful The humanity bureau .
On the subject of Nic Cage, I have Mandy ready to watch...

    Monsters in trucks / 100

It's terrible. But I enjoyed it.

Ah, it was just an interview with Ethan Hawke talking about why the greats from the 70s make such shit films now, because the middle class lifestyle isn’t enough

Hah. What a shit website. Couldn't be arsed to allow users to opt out of tracking so just block all EU users. Only three months to go, mind, and we can read it.

There's an interesting interview with Gene Hackman from the 70s where he mused over how taking the big paychecks distanced him mentally from playing the everyman type of role he was doing then.
