That's what the original anime does(ish). The manga is two 30 minute episodes smashed together and culled from 12 issues of the manga and, by all accounts, the movie follows it quite closely.

The manga is actually pretty good, definitely worth a read if you like this kind of thing.
    Weeaboo!

I have actually read the manga and yes it's quite good

Has beast always done his scores at the top of the review as opposed to the end or is this a new development ?

As an aside I think we should all spoiler review scores for added excitement and mystery.

Maybe he didnít. He did have a 186 page script along with about 400 pages of notes along with storyboards. Trying to find the featurette that played in cinemas but canít seem to find it. Oh well.

Anyone watched The Predator since it came out on DVD/Bluray? I expect that people are revising their initial thoughts now and realising that is in fact a very entertaining movie

I watched 'A River Runs Through It' over the weekend. I used to be a very good fisherman as a youngster (coarse not fly) so thought I'd enjoy this as I often watch 'The Legend of Bagger Vance' as I'm now a terrible golfer instead

It was pretty rubbish but one large trout did get caught so that sort of redeemed it slightly

In summary- the one that got away 4 out of 10

Has anyone watched Overlord? It kind of got shitty reviews but I'm in the mood for some mindless crap.

@AddyJB I haven't seen it, but listen to the arrow podcast (the dvd company) and one of the chaps on there reckoned it was his favourite horror of last year. Not sure how helpful that is....
  • Deleted user 7 February 2019 20:14:05
    @mrcrumley

I'll probably end up watching it. I'm a sucker for horror.

    Shaun of the Dead

After a fes years away due to ITV2 oversaturation going back to this now felt like a real comfortable experience. Everything about it holds up too.

And as is Rafe Spall is the horrible teenage co-worker at the beginning.

    10/10

I'd rather sequels to Alita than sequels to Avatar.

Looks ace. Matt Berry already owning it. And it also led me to Wellington Paranormal, which I was unaware of and also looks good.

Tag. 6/10. Inspired by a real life story of a group of friends who have been playing a game of tag for 30 years. Has its moments, but not really enough there to carry a whole film. Better than lots of comedies though.

    Watched a few movies recently.

Video game movie #1 Assassin's Creed

IT's like they made 2 movies. The first shit movie that's set in the future/present day and the kinda awesome one set in the past. As suggested by my previous sentence I enjoyed the past movie sections quite a bit. I had previously read that there's too much of the present day stuff and agree totally in the most parts because it's utter guff. I wonder how this nefarious organisation has existed for so long and been so successful because they have to be the dumbest mother fuckers going. The reasoning and decisions made by them are idiotic. The best bit is where they live our hero along with his dad so he can explain everything to him about this mother's death and how evil the people are that he is working full. Oh and just leave this assassin's blade with this assassin that's trained is said blade... yeah. 5/10

video game movie #2 Tomb Raider (new one)

So Shit. I only don't give it 1/10 because there are actually worse movies out there but only just. Just awful. The "actress" playing Lara Croft channels a lump of wood for her performance. I didn't give a shit about her badly written and badly acted character. The other characters are also badly written along with the entire screen play. The whole thing is tedious, predictable, badly thought out and executed. It makes the Angelina Tomb Raider movie like like Citizen Kane by comparison. Although, disclaimer, I actually enjoy the old Tomb Raider movie as a guilty pleasure. I would never argue for it being a great movie but it's fun (if stupid) and they captured Lara Croft well.

    2/10

    Mute

This got some mixed reviews but I really enjoyed it. I found it to be a beautifully shot neo noir that's not afraid to take it's time. It takes that a little too far maybe and it could do with being a bit shorter and maybe slightly less self indulgent but i loved the rich feel of the world which admittedly does owe a lot to blade runner but then so many others do too. I was engaged with the characters and cared about what was going to happen. Enjoyed it. It's on Netflix so I would give it a go since you can always just switch it off if it's not your cup of latte.

    8/10

Just ok, fun. I liked SL cameo.
I would say lacked and real urgency though

So a pretty faithful adaptation then?

    Hot Fuzz

    Peggathon continues.

This has aged a lot better than I thought it might have. The closing act is maybe a little drawn out but it's still a fun warm film.

    7.9/10

Hot fuzz is the best of the trilogy if you ask me. Iíve always found sean to be a bit over hyped. The worlds end Iíve only watched the once but kind of enjoyed. Fuzz seems to be the most grounded of them all, even if it is a little overblown it does do it with a nod and wink.

I've only seen World's End once but after reading an interview about Pegg's alcoholism and attempts to reconnect with everyone I wanted to rewatch. RE2 coming out and the RE2 episode of Spaced has set me going from Spaced through the trilogy.

SOTD is probably the one for me still but it's so tied up in watching it a hundred times with my best mate at uni when it came out its a real nostalgia piece for me.

I don't like anything Pegg has done, including Spaced. There, I said it.

    Maybe Big Train was okay
