I don't get the love for Hot Fuzz either. I don't even understand if it's supposed to parody cop/buddy films or English detectives fighting murders in the country side.

I guess both, which might explain the hot mezz.

I think Hot Fuzz is a slight take on things like Misdomer Murders, where a crazy amount of deaths occur in one small, sleepy, English Village. But obviously they've added some other elements too.

I didn't really enjoy it at the cinema when it came out that much, but whenever I catch bits of it on ITV2 by accident I quite enjoy it.

They are all films that I enjoyed when I first watched them, but never felt any real desire to go back to.

On paper, they are everything I should want in a movie but I've only watched SOTD and Hot Fuzz all the way through once and Worlds End twice, because the second time there was absolutely fuck all on. It was either that or ancient aliens.

I always took Hot Fuzz as being 'what if Michael Bay did Midsomer'

+ action movie buddy cop tropes

Love Spaced and SOTD. Didn't really find Hot Fuzz funny. I'm not sure what it was trying to satire. Some of it is good. I thought Pegg's character was a bit unlikeable in that one, whereas in SOTD (and Spaced) he's very easy to relate to being an everyman slacker.

World's End was pretty good. Again, Pegg's character comes across as a bit of a twat but I liked the Body Snatchers vibe and Frost is great in it (as always).

Also, anyone starts slagging Spaced I'm going to come after you like Liam Neeson after receiving a call from a distressed female relative.

Loved Spaced and SOTD. Hot Fuzz is OK, but doesn't reach the heights of SOTD. World's End was disappointing but not watched it since reading about his alcoholism. All of them though are very much of their time. I can watch them with nostalgia but they have noticeably aged.

I know it's not part of the trilogy and wasn't as well-received as the others, but I really enjoyed Paul as well.

Big Train is peak Pegg, he's hilarious in it. I find him irritating in recent stuff.

Spaced is that one that's like a British version of The Big Bang Theory, right?

I'm in the minority who finds SotD OK but the rest pretty crappy.

The whole trilogy felt like tv comedy sketches stretched into feature length films.

My favourite things Nick Frost has ever done are Danger 50,000 Volts and Danger Incoming Attack, I can watch them all day.

There's one where the expert is advising on improvised weapons in the event of a terror attack on a plane, then it cuts to Nick Frost charging down the aisle of a coach, windmilling a sock full of loose change :'D

blowjob to anyone that can find that clip for me..

I honestly have not liked anything much Pegg has done since Spaced. I did not even really like SOTD. It just was not funny enough and tonally was all over the place. It felt like a step down from Spaced.

Now Pegg has settled into the comic relief side character x role they are just awful.

The House With A Clock in Its Walls - 8/10

Eli Roth, the writer and director of horror films such as Hostel, Cabin Fever and Green Inferno has gone a done a 12A family friendly fantasy film. One which I enjoyed immensely.

I don't usually watch these kind of films (I'm not including superhero films here) but seeing Eli Roth's name attached to it and the cast of Jack Black and Cate Blanchett swung it for me. I thought the trailers looked pretty decent too.

I wasn't sure if Roth could handle doing a big, effects driven film but I think he nails it. The special effects are special and the film's got a great musical score. The chemistry between Black and Blanchett is excellent and I loved the little snide digs they kept having at each other. The kid in the film isn't too annoying either.

    I think it's well worth a watch.

    Bullitt - 10/10

Even if you take out the legendary car chase sequence and the superb Lalo Schifrin score, I think it's still a classic film. With those included, it's one of the best.

I think I've only seen the version of Bullit without the car chases and music. Will see if I can find the version with them included, thanks!
