    Midsommar looks genuinely unsettling.

That Children of the Corn/Wickerman type of isolated community setting always gets me though.

Yeah it looks great. Loved the atmosphere he created in Hereditary.

    A Bridge Too Far

One of the classic war films from my youth, and it must have been over 20 years since I last watched it. It's still a damn fine film, even with Gene Hackman's Polish accent :-)

I walked the Para Walk up to and through Arnhem while trekking across Europe and the memorials to the battle were quite something.

    9/10
It is fantastic. I'd watched it a lot as a kid and had not realised how amazing Anthony Hopkins is on a recent viewing.

    GOTT BLESS FIELD MARSHALL MONTGOMERY!

He has serious competition from Larry Olivier doing his well-worn Eurotrash akkkkcent that he also brandishes gaily in Dracula and The Boys From Brazil.

Jokes aside, I find a lot of A Bridge Too Far hard to watch. The scene when the Poles get slaughtered trying their crossing is horrible, and it's one of the first films I remember crying to as a kid. My mum had to take me out the room to explain the horrors of war to me, in her mumsy way.

I fokken love Marathon Man. It's one of my favourite films. I even dragged my missus to the fountain in Arco Plaza when we went to LA so I could pretend I was Roy Scheider.

Yeah itís absolutely brilliant. Think it might be my favourite film, or certainly right up there.

I quote ďis it safeĒ on far too regular a basis. Crossing the road. Opening the oven. Changing nappies. Drives my wife mad.

    Astral

A British low budget horror about astral projection and the dangers of entering the other world. Not too bad, but far from amazing. In tone it felt like a well produced student film, but spent too long on the build up. I do like how they kept the monster hidden, no doubt due to budget constraints, but more effective because of it.

    Venom

Watchable but it's as if they expected everyone to know that venom becomes a sort of anti-hero in the comics. Most of us just know him as spidermans enemy. Worth a view though.

If one hasn't seen avengers end game(My wife), is there spoilers or refernces to events in endgame in Spiderman far from home?

Surely it won't make any sense at all if you haven't seen Endgame? It's pretty much a sequel.

Not really. It talks about a certain character a bit and a couple of other references but nothing that would stop you enjoying Spiderman.

You probably don't need to have seen Endgame to understand basically what is going on. But yes it very much spoils what happened in it. Ever so much.

Eh? What you chatting about. Spiderman is very much a spoiler for Endgame, incredibly so.

Tom Holland literally warns you about Endgame spoilers at the beginning of the Far From Home trailer.

It's been marketed as pretty much a sequel, or at least the definite end of the Infinity saga.

Now I need to watch Marathon Man again. It's been years. Superb film.

It's basically one big End Game spoiler and yeah as mentioned even the trailers started with them saying Spoilers

I think that was one of the films that I saw as a 14yr old that really got me properly into film. Brilliant film.

Just never read the sequel Goldman wrote. It's mental and quite, quite shit.

The soundtrack to Marathon Man is brilliant. I love the minimalist stuff Michael Small and David Shire did in the 70s. All the President's Men is similarly brilliant, and there's not a note of music until over 30 mins into the film and it just builds on the tiniest refrain.

I also have not seen marathon man.

I did however see Spider-Man far from home today, it was alright I guess, but boring in places. The action scenes are pretty cool but I think fatigue may just be setting in on these films now, I donít think it was any better than plenty of the others. I imagine it will drag on future viewings, we get the nerdy awkward teen angst by now.

    Midsommar

Iím tired so Iíll be brief.

    Boring, predictable, pretentious, silly

Maybe I just donít have the patience for certain types of films any more. I genuinely thought Hereditary was an alright film but this was pish.
