Yea. It's alright. It's runs on too long, has some superfluous scenes, struggles to incorporate the past and the present storylines, feels very cliched at points, and feels like a real 'blockbuster'.

It's like a horror movie that Marvel got their hands on.

Haven’t seen chapter two yet but the first one didn’t particularly feel like a horror. Someone saw Stranger Things, said “hey that works - let’s apply it to something people vaguely remember being scary.”

If you want something to be scary, probably best not to make it like Goonies.

Oh the irony of IT ripping off Stranger Things.

    Spider-Man: Far From Home

My local cinema is having a run of Marvel films and this was first up. Really enjoyed it as it manages to wring comedy from teenage awkwardness but overall though is just a really fun film.

    9/10

    Bring on Captain Marvel!

Holmes and Watson - I went into this with low expectations until I saw that John C Reilly was playing Dr. Watson and that Steve Coogan was in it. I’d only recently watched their Laurel and Hardy biopic and very much enjoyed it. But this was the worst shower of shite I have seen in such a long, long time.

    Bladerunner (final cut)
I don't know. The super outdated "future" really detracts from a rather banal plot centered around the question of "Can you rape a robot? What if you reprogram it using voice commands first?". Oozing with style and atmosphere though.

    A must see

I, uh, think Blade Runner is about a bit more than replirape. Though that scene is pretty rapey, it's not the whole movie.

But it also works as a lense too see the whole film through. Isn't the central question (and I might be exaggerating) "What is life? Is a perfected copy of us worthy of it? What makes a human?"

The rape scene really distills that. And with the ubiquitous voice assistants we have nowadays I think Deckard grumbling "Say Kiss Me" gave it an updated edge.

The scene itself is about whether the androids are objects or people. And also about the androids struggling with human interaction. Tonka doesn't do any kind of subtlety though, not when there's a chance to show everyone how next level woke he is.

In a way it's more interesting if Deckard is a human. Need to watch 2049 now.

Not sure how anyone can criticise the aesthetic of Blade Runner, regardless of its other faults.

If you want to double your output, you could also copy-paste repurpose this as a review of Westworld.

Blade Runner's only interesting if Deckard is human: Scott was a wanker to try to make it otherwise.

There's one with Antonio Banderas where it's blade runner but he's an insurance adjuster.

At one point he investigates a robot brothel and the robo hookers look like the ones out of Futurama. Like Asimo in fishnet tights. It's by a good margin the thing most likely to come true I've seen in a movie.

Watched a couple of "Frightfest Presents" films last night.

    Pimped - 4.5/10

I didn't find anything remotely unpredictable, gory or scary in this film at all. However, it's pretty well shot and acted. The the plot for what it was, certainly isn't the worst out there.

One thing that stood out for me was how much lead actor Benedict Samuel reminded me of a youthful Dexter Fletcher. The resemblance is really quite striking. That's about the best thing I can say about this film. It wasn't even that terrible that it was enjoyable. It's just below average overall

    Nobody Leaves - 3/10

Meh! I mostly found this film to be terrible. Even though I wasn't expecting too much, it was still a colossal letdown.

The problem I had with it is that I thought the first two acts were a complete mess. Even as far as horror films go, I found the whole premise to be unbelievable. Maybe that's not the right word to use. "Well shit" is probably the correct terminology.

Why did I watch it then? The trailer made it look really interesting but for whatever reason I just didn't connect with it. I thought the acting was terrible which didn't help. I also found it to be incredible dull.

It's only in the third act that things get interesting when it pulls out all the stops and just goes for it. I mean, it really goes for it. But because I didn't care for any of the characters or anything about the film at all really, it didn't work. Certainly not the mind-bending headfuck promised in the trailer. Nobody Leaves? I would rename this film Nobody Bother.

Fantastic Breasts: The Crimes of Grundelworm

Not fantastic. Hardly any breasts. Everyone acting like their grundel was being stabbed with pins.

Big reveal losing all relevance as I was more relieved the movie was over than interested in the plot.

    Just the the franchise die/10.
