Same. I mean it could come on the tv at 2am and I'd still watch the shit out of it.

Hahaha, fair. I think I watched it back when I was a teenager, probably trying to be an edgelord.

On a related note, I saw it in an Everyman cinema. First time I've been in one... amazing seats. You basically get a sofa to sit on. Just a shame the screen was a bit smaller than I'd have liked. Also, at the slightest hint of talking at about the 3 hour mark, someone instantly shushed them. It was brutal. But it suited me. Better than my last experience in Cineworld watching Ad Astra with an entire family behind me, including a couple of 7 year olds...

    Doctor Sleep

    9/10

Really surprised with how good this turned out. Does an absolutely fantastic job of honoring both the original novel, the Kubrick vision and the novel it's based on itself, in fact, this does a better job and expanding on The Shining than the Doctor Sleep novel which I found to be a bit messy and overly concerned with trying to block out Kubrick's version of events (King needs to get over that already).

All the subtle, and some not so subtle nods to the original book and the movie all mess together seamlessly and the pacing is spot on.

    Dark Phoenix.

So it's not terrible. Just kind of unnecessary.

Such a talented cast, I think someone else mentioned they are probably tired of being tied into the franchise but they all turn in decent performances, shame the plot is bobbins.

In the positive column it has probably the best fight scenes of all the recent films.

I award it XI out of X-men.

    Terminator Dark Fate

Started off reasonably well but became predictable & formulaic by the end

Absolutely nothing special about it at all

    A forgettable 5 out 10

    Kong Skull Island

This much better than I expected. It takes a while to get going, but once it does it's a lot of fun to watch. Samuel L Jackson does a good turn as Colonel Kurtz. The monster fights look good and the final battle suitably climactic.

    7/10

The Killing of a Sacred Deer

    Dammit Yorgos.

It made me wince more than a lot of horrors do, but itís not a scary film as much as itís tense. And if thereís a message in there itís difficult to decipher. It feels more like an Old Testament story than a fable.

And it has the same dialogue as The Lobster, where everyone talks really stilted. It worked in The Lobster for some reason because everything in context was structured. Not sure it worked as well in this film.

Itís good, in itís own way. Just a bit too weird and impenetrable for me.

    6/10

    Parasite

South Korean black comedy about a guy from a poor family that somehow manages to infiltrate an extremely rich and gullible family. Needless to say, things escalate pretty quickly. Best to watch without reading or knowing anything else about it.

    Jumanji (Reboot)

Surprisingly (not that surprising as It had good word of mouth) good fun. Pretty much the perfect brainless fart but a lot of fun Sunday afternoon film. First half is really good, good jokes, part jumanji, part body swap film. Second half carries it on but does turn a little run of the mill but I'd be won over enough by the first half that I didn't mind. Refreshing to see a blockbuster that isn't poe faced explodathon.

Probably something I will stick on from time to time. 4/5

The sequel is out soon (or now) too.

Dolemite is my Name - 8/10. Loved that, a whole lot of fun. Eddie Murphy was perfect casting.

Perhaps he just thought it was a bit shit given that it's a bit shit.

@Lukus I'm obviously not nick, but it's fucking dreadful. Even worse than most of Netflix usual mediocrity.

    Rewatch the series.

What utter utter horseshit. The only mystery is how it was Oscar fodder.

It was a shit Batman film. I applaud it for its overdue mostly black cast but that's it.

    Yes.

It's really shit but on the edge of being watchable thanks to Willem Defoe.

Thanks Bob and Nick. The trailer looks OK and Defoe sounds really creepy. Pretty sure I'll never watch it. Thank you for your ongoing sacrifice.

The only Manga series I've watched all the way through was about this little guy with a baseball bat appearing and smashing peoples head in. It was so fucking weird. No idea what it was or why I stuck with it.

    Loosely.

I mean, Dafoe is good as usual, it's just a bad film.
