Put the new Sky version of Five Children and It on for the boy. It has Michael Caine doing the voice for the troll thing. It's literally just his voice and personality. It's quite something.

@richarddavies the best that can be said about it is that itís broadly inoffensive.

But, most damningly, I had completely forgotten that Iíd seen it right up until now.

    Neckrotronic

I remember when Monica Bellucci did classy films like Matrix Reloaded and Irreversible - this is something special indeed. Ghostbusters meet Pokemon Go in this low budget horror that I'm guessing is supposed to be funny. There's some humour there, but it was so shit I couldn't turn it off.

    Fuck knows/10

    Midsommar

Late to the party on this one.

Itís well shot. And thereís a fair bit to like about it. Florence Pugh is good in just about everything.

But, and itís a big but, Ari Astar does seem to confuse foreshadowing with basically just telling you what is going to happen later on.

So half is good, half is a bit on the nose. And the male lead is basically there because they couldnít get Seth Rogen or Chris Pratt so they went halfway and got nothing.

    5/10

    Venom - 4/10

Absolute shite. Sony really have no idea what to do with their Spider-man license. Literally 5 mins in I knew it was awful. Itís a weird bastardization of the character that doesnít work standalone with Spidey.
Iíve seen good films by the director, and Hardy and Williams are both decent actors, but nothing about this film worked, including their participation.

I think the only superhero film Iíve seen worse is Suicide Squad.
I quite liked it, took too long to get going but iíd give it 6/10. Looks stunning in 4K too.

Spiderman 3, Suicide Squad, Antman and Wasp, Iron Man 3, Fantastic 4, Batman vs Superman all worse than Venom. Rewatching other Marvel movies like Age of Ultron and Black Panther made me remember they were pretty poor too.

    The Lost Boys - 8/10

Has held up really well over the years. Sharp, witty, and terrifying, ingenious camera effects, and undoubtedly one of the best soundtracks of any '80s movie (an INXS Spotify session reminded me to dig it out).

@Trowel Yeah itís still a good film.

I havenít seen it in a little while, but do think of it often. It came out during ďmyĒ time; around the days when I met my first sweetheart, with whom Iím back together again now after all these years.

    Good stuff.

My pandemic epiphany happened a few days ago. I realised the sexy sax guy in Lost Boys is the same half naked, oiled sexy wastelander sax guy in Tina Turners ĎWe donít need another heroí video.

    The Dark Half

1993 Stephen King adaptation, directed by George Romero. A writer has a pseudonym alter-ego that he uses to write trash, and the alter-ego feels almost... ALIVE. AND MURDEROUS. Watching The Outsider a few days ago (recommended, by the way) really reminded me of it - the plots are pretty similar - so thought I'd give it another whirl.

It's pretty good! Decent suspense, a good bit of gore, and some good lead performances. Some great, horrifically cheesy one-liners too: sorry, but YOU KNOW THIS IS A CUT-THROAT BUSINESS *cuts throat*

    8/10

I guess I'm just on a King binge at the moment. Maybe I'll try The Dead Zone next.

Girlfriend went to some horror convention in that there London before all this shit, and this dude was one of the main draws. I think Kiefer came in, but only on the one day when they weren't there.
Anyway, they got photos with him.
He was still wearing the same outfit and oily.

What a world we once lived in.

I found that out the other week. I came round about three hours later and had to be consoled by two social workers and a priest.

Also found out the Mountie thing early on but she looks like her dad.
