It was a weird period of time when hollywood tried to make him an action star.

I also liked that they worked out they were a group of bad ass killer and never thought to ask what topher grace was doing there.

'So... you know ju-jitsu or what?'
'No, Im basically Harold Shipman. I think they got me here to see if I could kill them in their sleep'

I kind of liked him in it. Most SAS types are wiry little guys like him so I thought he was fairly convincing in the role.

Predators has the samurai scene so it can't be that bad.

My idea for a Predator film:

It's basically Every Which Way But Loose but with a Predator.

Clint Eastwood, now kept alive purely by infernal magic and the NRA, wins a hairy Predator in a bare-knuckle fight and hilarity ensues when he tangles with the local biker gang and the Predator rips out all of their goddamn spines! Gnaaahhwwhh.

There's also a scene where the Predator sings country and western songs in a bar whilst Clint sexually harasses some lesbians.

I just thought he got his film roles mixed up and turned up on set thinking he'd won the part as lead in a "the machinist" remake.

I'd like a period piece predator movie. Something set in the 18th/19th century.

    Predator: Concrete Bungle

Geoffrey from Rainbow is found disembowelled. Police suspect the Jamaicans and their crazy voodoo magic, possibly because they're lazy racists and can't be bothered to find out where voodoo is actually from.

A crack squad of George, Zippy and Bungle set out to avenge Geoffrey whilst also providing rudimentary educational songs. Zippy gets pissed off with George and betrays him in a heartbreaking scene, leaving only CONCRETE BUNGLE.

The predator was the first film I'd watched in years where I was genuinely pissed off and annoyed walking out of the cinema. I can't face watching it again.

    Onward

First Pixar movies I've seen for a while (haven't yet got round to Inside Out or Coco for example). Cinema near me just reopened after lockdown, so took the kids to see this.

Absolutely loved it. In some way cliche, but it takes these clichés and plays with them. It also has that emotional gut punch typical of Pixar (think the opening of Up). This month is the 10 year anniversary of my Mum losing her cancer battle, so it really touched a nerve. I was blubbing like a 3 year old that dropped an ice cream cone. Especially when Barley talks about his 4th memory of his late Dad.

All in though, thoroughly enjoyable. I also just enjoyed the cinema experience for the first time in ages. Brilliant, and a great movie to go back for.

    9/10

I think there's a gap in the market for a gory murder mystery where a disgruntled kid's show mascot is going around killing other kid's show characters.

Only Detective Dave Benson Phillips can get to the bottom if it...

(Edit: and he's only got 3 days left til retirement etc etc)
(Edit again: I really wanna pitch this to the BBC now...)

    Coherence.

Definitely one of the better Sci Fi flicks out there and one where a limited budget doesn't detract from the film.

The characters kind of grate but I guess that's the point. It worked for me as it created a kind of claustrophobic/creepy vibe that reminded me of really good twilight episodes.

A solid 8 for me but I could understand if people didn't enjoy it at all.

    On Prime at the moment.

Also I came into it completely blind which made a big difference. Avoid googling the plot or reveals.

If you enjoyed Coherence you might like Shadow Walkers, has a similar vibe, 99p rent on Amazon, was on Netflix as "+1" but I think its gone now.

I do enjoy my weird sci fi horrors, like The Endless and The Triangle.

There's definitely a case for a Predator film set in a historical time period.

@JamboWayOh They could do the origin of Danny Glovers flintlock pistol, so Master and Commander but the Acheron is a predator.

    Fury Road.

I dont quite understand how you can make 2 hours of non stop action not get boring. Better every watch.

American Pie really has not aged well. The webcam scene. The speech about "this is for every guy who isn't getting laid"... it's not as bad as Revenge of the Nerds but it's certainly up there.

I gather some of the cast have slightly disavowed it. It's definitely the dying days of those terrible teen sex comedies where the teens are all mid 20s.
