I do wonder how Clerks would stack up watching it for the first time now. It's so rough with terrible acting. But the dialogue and ideas are brilliant.
I suppose anyone who watches it does so with open eyes. I'd also say the acting isn't THAT bad. It helps that the script is very, very natural and is pretty much based on real conversations.

I also think much of the charm, for most, is what it represents more than what it IS. It was quite an outlier at the time; too old for teen comedy, too young for "Father of the Bride" type stuff. Plus the fact that it's basically am dram and purely a document of Kevin's job when he was 22.

The guy who plays Dante is dreadful. As is his gf. But I still love it. Absolutely one of my faves.

I think it would still hold up as, basically, a zero budget arthouse movie. In fact, it may hold up better as low budget stuff nowadays seems to be shot on mobiles and feels completely flat. I think being in B&W and shot on film gives it a quality that a lot of stuff wouldnt have these days.

He was at my local comicon the other year. Was a proper miserable twat whilst waiting for literally noone to sign autographs for. But then turned on the charm for his Q&A session, was good fun.

Can't be much fun being at a convention and nobody wanting to speak to you or recognising you.

It says a lot that Jeff Anderson, the guy playing Randall, pretty much quit acting and had to be strong armed into Clerks II.

He's apparently the reason Clerks 3 doesn't exist and that's fine by me.

    Doctor Sleep (Directors Cut)

    8/10

Solid sequel to the book and film. Lengthy run time, but the movie held my attention throughout.

Hereditary Pretty solid horror with Toni Collette, by the Director that did Midsommar, you can tell.

    70%

The Old Guard Pretty solid (Superhero) drama/thriller with the always Hot Charlize Theron. Actually really enjoyed this one, some big plot holes but it was fun...did I mention CT is Hot. It has Dudley in (Harry Potter) he has grown into a very peculiar looking man!

    An honest liar on Prime.

Documentary about a magician who became a debunker of psychics and televangelists and later a nemesis of that fucking weirdo Uri Gellar.
It was pretty good. His private life almost mirrored the fakery and lies of his profession.
    Worth watching.

    The Old Guard

Quite good fun. There's some decent fights, reasonable story and good chemistry between the team, although some of the 'twists' were a bit obvious. I'd be interested in a sequel.

    Marvellous

Someone here mentioned it recently, so kudos for that, whoever you were...
An absolutely fantastic film... Phenomenal performance by Toby Jones, and it's all just so bloody heart-warming. Best film I've seen in years.

    Extraction

Competent action shooty shooty film. Kind of depressing though and takes itself too seriously.

    6.5 out of 10

Knives Out. 8.5/10. Loved that, really nice light touch, moved at a decent pace with a well worked mystery. New to Prime if not spotted.

Knives out is fantasic - goes well with Ready Or Not.

    Rec3 - 6/10
Reviews are aewful and suggest it's slapsticks and mostly day shot. It's not, there's a breif gory shaun of the dean style scene and it's mostly at night.

It's perfectly fine as a film, doesn't advance any back story from the previous 2 films and doesn't try to. The setting makes it.

    Outlander

Not as bad as I remembered it. There's a good cast, and the story is mostly fine. The characters lack some depth, and the daughter is quite annoying switching from being a liability to badass in a split second. The creature is decent and the story does feel like old Nordic and Germanic beast sagas. But it doesn't quite gel, although a reasonably fun watch.

    6/10

Fun fact, Star Citizen scammer Chris Roberts is one of the producers.

    No One Lives

Quite a well put together slasher style flick. It gets a little predictable once you know what's going on, but the killer does have a sinister aspect and it does get quite brutal.

The best thing about Hamilton's movie release is the ability to watch it with subtitles; should be the default.
