What? There's loads of good vampire movies!
Of the top of my head
30 days of night, Near dark, fright night, blade 1 and 2, let the right one in, The addiction, vamp, thirst..I mean..I'm sure I could come up with fifty if I really think.
Of course, you might think those films are rubbish...
I was thinking more in the last 5-10 years when I meant there doesn't seem to be much.

Shame on you for not having The Lost Boys in your top of your head list.

There havent. I was thinking Byzantium, Only Lovers Left Alive and a girl walks alone a night, but they are fairly old now.

There was a vampire TV show quite recently, was that any good?

Haven't seen only lovers left alive, but I really struggle to watch stuff with Tilda Swinton. There's something about her I find very unsettling and I can't concentrate on the film.

What We Do in the Shadows? Yeah, that was good.

A Discovery of Witches? No, that was shite.

    If you're talking 5-10 years..Maybe there isnt.
Thirst, possibly came out in that time frame. It's pretty unconventional and by the director of Oldboy.

Just did a search and it was called the Strain. Don't know anyone that's watched it to see if it's worth giving it a go.

Each season has reviewed quite well so I think I'll try it.

Oh, I totally forgot about it. I really liked it. It's not perfect but it's pretty fun in a b-movie way.
Some decent creature effects too when they don't resort to cgi.

One of my favourite recent shows. I can still chuckle away just thinking about Colin's power crazed episode.

It's alright. Not as good as the books but definitely worth a watch. David Bradley is great in it, as always.

It's the ones where your junk falls off and you develop a cloaca when you get vampired

I watched the first couple episodes of The Strain as it was aired and told a few people it was good which as we know was the cue for it to develop into dogshit

At this point I have to make the compulsory mention of Ultraviolet with all its 90s haircuts and Jack Davenport still inexplicably having a career.

    And Vampire Bill starting early.

I liked it when Sam from the hobbit got the worms under his skin. Wasnít really worth watching afterwards. I abandoned it well before the end but the kid in it was one of the most irritating fuckers to ever be on television. Andrea and Carl from Walking Dead rolled together annoying.

    30 Days of Night

Spent the first 20 minutes wondering what happened to Josh Harnetts career, then I realised he had evolved into Holden from The Expanse. Its uncanny how similar those two are.

But its a decent vampire flick with a cool concept and some brutal vampires. Starts strong, sags in the middle and then ends strongly.

    7.5/10

    Terminator Dark Fate

It started off quite well, I liked the atmosphere and the glimpses of the future and the inevitability of it all.
But then it just became formulaic very quickly with a series of set pieces and lots of dodgy looking CGI, at which point I became very bored of it all.
Sarah Connor is meant to be some weary old badass, but I struggled to see her as anything but an embarrassing granny, which is a shame as she was a really good character before.

Not great, but way, way better than the last one. Time to stop milking the corpse of the franchise though.

    5 out of 10

I felt like they just got Sarah Connorís evolution a bit wrong. She was too similar to T2 just older and grizzled. Her transformation between 1 and 2 is one of the best things about the those films and they missed a trick really thinking about another meaningful change.

What could they do though? Have her sitting in a rocking chair with a blue rinse and knitting in her lap?

@You-can-call-me-kal it's probably wishful thinking for them to really think about anything with these new ones rather than just churning them out.

She should have married the Terminator. They could have done an odd couple style comedy sci-fi.
