My go to background noise at the moment is BBQ Pitmasters. Every episode is the same, there's no manufactured drama/human intrigue as is common in most competition shows, it's just fat rednecks cooking gigantic pieces of meat and taking the piss out of each other.
Masterchef for rednecks. I will NEVER get bored of them plating up their food at the end in a polystyrene box with a shitload of parsley.

That Aaron Franklin guy is legit. I saw a YouTube video of a BBQ chef who ordered one of his $250, mail order briskets to see what the fuss was about and pretty much started crying when he ate it.

Yeah, I've got his books on bbq and steak and the guy knows his stuff. He can tell meat doneness just by lightly poking it and be accurate to a single degree.

I started looking at a smoker to get for this summer and went down a bit of a rabbit hole.

Americans really take it so serious to the point its like a religion in some parts. The prep that goes into some of the meat is impressive.

    3022 (on Amazon Prime)

Seems like yet another lockdown scifi small cast effort, despite being pre lockdown, but not terrible for all that. Gets a bit silly in the second half, but just about holds it together

    6.5 there's fuck all else to dos / 10

X Men Days of Future Past 8/10

Best one so far but it was a mistake choosing to watch all these xmen films. Iím sick of Wolverine, Magneto and Professor X and the series ignoring pretty much everyone else (apart from mystique in the last two).

Iím not stopping though. Apocalypse next, canít wait.

    Red Dragon

Whilst I prefer Mikkelsen's portrayal of Hannibal Lector, I do still enjoy watching Hopkin's hammier approach. And for me this is the best film of the series. Pretty much everyone is great in their roles (the wife from Weeds lets the side down a bit), it's a more interesting killer and more engrossing story.

    9/10

I'd try the original Manhunter if you haven't seen it. Much better film imo, never really bought Ralph Fiennes in the role.

On the off chance youre serious, itís a typo. Itís hard boiled, a John Woo movie.

Hard Boiler is about a really ugly British woman caught up in an underground prison fight club.

I'm sure there's a Margi Clarke film that fits this description.

    What was that called?

It had a great line in it: "What are you going to do for a face when Jabba The Hutt wants his arse back?!"

    Edit: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blonde_Fist

    A real treat.

    The Great Wall

Matt Damon gets caught up in a fight with aliens in ancient China. There are some great visual effects and set pieces but is surprisingly more fun than it deserves to be.

    7/10

    Shanghai Noon

Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson do the old west. The humour is a bit crude but we all know what we're getting from a Jackie Chan film.

    5/10

    Redcon-1

Horror channel fodder about a zombie outbreak in London. I'd gone into this expecting a bad film but never got swept along with the level of shitiness it was going for so was bored. It ticks every clichť in the book and the 2 hour runtime is better spent watching 28 Days Later instead.

    1/10

    Upside Down Magic

You can blame Mrs Hermit for this one, she was in the mood for something light and fluffy that she didn't have to pay much attention to and had magic in it.

On the down side it's predictable Disney tosh that you'll know exactly how it's going to end, there are zero surprises along the way and everyone does exactly what you think they're going to do. On the upside, it's predictable Disney tosh, it doesn't take itself seriously, it's a whole lot of fun and for my sins, I actually quite enjoyed it.

More fun than that po-faced cunt Harry Potter/10

Don't tell anyone, but we're also going to watch Descendants apparently.

The Descendants is great fun. 2nd is the best one. Zombies also surprisingly good.
